Atlantis: The Lost Empire
Lucas Adams
Ethan Price
the side characters needed more screen time
Aiden Carter
Best couple ever
James Morgan
I thought this movie was the coolest fucking thing as a stupid little boy. I tried watching it again recently and just couldn’t get as into it. The music and background art is fantastic, but something about the goofy character animation is off-putting.
I do think it deserved more of a chance though- Disney just sidelined it immediately, even cancelling the sequel cartoon. Yeah it was going to be shit, but that certainly never stopped them before.
Tyler Bailey
literally my first faps

This. Makes me wish we got that full TV series. The side characters could get more limelight, and we get cool adventures with myths and legends.
Daniel Collins
too bad the episodes that they actually made and turned into the sequel were just a bullshit cashgrab with no soul
Alexander Robinson
tHiS DiSnEy mOvIe iS A RiP OfF Of tHiS AnImE No oNe kNoWs aBoUt!!!
Logan Rodriguez
Nadia was fantastic. I wish we got a rebuild of that instead of Eva.
Matthew Smith
is this anime any good though, would it scratch the itch
Evan Flores
>nobody knows about
Ok zoomer
Owen Cooper
>Disney does it better
Every. Single. Time.
Charles Reyes
>this movie has tropes, therefore it is a ripoff
Stop that.
Austin Davis
>having the same exact characters doing the same things in the same order is just tropes
Hm....
Jose Bennett
The mercs were easily the best part. Wish that aspect was expanded on, like the assassin world in John Wick.
Nathaniel Kelly
It's ok, just skip the filler
Jeremiah Myers
They're both works derivative of Jules Verne and Edgar Cayce. Plus Atlantis's development was more driven by an effort to ripoff Hellboy's visuals to the point where they just hired Mignola himself to be the production designer.
Elijah Hall
thinking that nadia is a completely original work lmao
Tyler Perry
>Mignola's response to Disney's proposal was 'How did you get my phone number?'
Ayden Cox
>We have everyone's phone number.
Connor Morgan
Read 10,000 leagues under the sea
Isaiah Taylor
I wish ocean punk was more common. Fantasy/Sci-Fi stories all about the sea and nautical folklore are just plain cool.
Ethan Gonzalez
>Bros there's a nerdy white dude and a dark skinned girl that's ripoff
I want to nuke Japan again
Chase Phillips
It's shit once they get to Atlantis and Kida looks trans
Levi Lopez
Why? Because they have the decency to make animated content that isn't just for shitty children?
Ayden Phillips
Pretty underwhelming on the rewatch. Not big on the aesthetic or characters, and the story is nonsense. Why do the Atlanteans need Milo to figure out how to use their own technology and read their own language, when there are people from before the collapse that are still around? That plot hole exists because of the intro, changing it was a mistake.
Treasure Planet is easily the better "underrated post-Renaissance Disney scifi box office bomb".
Jaxson Perez
Because the king banished the use of crystal technology after the disaster and shut down the libraries and schools as a kneejerk way of ensuring Atlantis would never abuse the power of the crystal again.
Dominic Gutierrez
>the decency to make animated content that isn't just for shitty children?
Literally anime's "greatest work" (Cowboy Bebop) was solely made as a toy commercial
Liam Ross
That's not something that's established in the movie (I assume you're getting that from some extended material), but even if that were true, the people from before the collapse wouldn't suddenly forget how to read.
Like I said, the replaced intro is what created the contradiction, originally there was no pre-collapse sequence, so every Atlantean in the movie would be assumed to have been born post-collapse.
Landon Myers
And I'm willing to bet that anime is absolute dogshit.
Austin Mitchell
It started life as Bandai trying to push it as a toy commercial. Watanabe did what he wanted and when Bandai saw that his show wouldn't push the spaceship toys as much as they wanted, they pulled their funding until Bandai Visual(Bandai's sister company specifically for anime) stepped in to fund it without the toy commercial restrictions. From there, Watanabe got to make his space western without excessive corporate oversight.
Jeremiah Bennett
It was the most popular anime of 1990 and 1991 and the lead character popped up in popularity polls for the rest of the decade.
So, no.
Chase Gutierrez
Evangelion and Cowboy Bebop were popular too, but they're both mediocre.
Asher Young
If you're that much of a mental midget, I recommend sticking to american toy commercials.
Grorious Nippon 2advanced4u
Jaxon Edwards
Nobody gave a fuck about Anno on an international level until Eva.
Jason Carter
Was Nadia tha character seriously that popular? She's annoying AF and completely useless, why would they......oh
