that's fascinating. do you think you can talk about that for another 50 posts? because I can guarantee I can do the same about equara, without the slightest effort. that's of course is a rhetorical question, I don't care.
It would devolve into offtopic discussion either way, because you're talking about somer andom schizo and their person. Not their actual work.
So the premise is this: equara isn't that bad, and it's also may not be completely over. I think that based on who they are as characters, they could probably curve their arcs in a way that actually collide.
So now, the background. Equius is a highblooded troll, equivalent of basically being a rich kid with a lot of privileges. Aradia is a lowblood, part of the lowest bloodcaste in fact, who get the dirtiest jobs, get discarded like trash, on their home planet of Alternia. Life is short and painful for most everyone, murder is an everyday thing, and the higherbloods (blue through fuchsia) treat the lowbloods (olive through red) like shit while midbloods (olive up to teal) are sort of in-betweeners.
By the time they interact with each other, most of the planet is completely barren. Mostly because when a troll reaches adulthood, they are conscripted into the troll Empire's army, and sent out into outer space, to conquer and wage wars against other races in the cosmos. But also because... well the planet is fucking dying, and the trolls themselves left on the planet also murder EACH OTHER very frequently.
Equius is a very staunch believer of the hemospectrum. Which is basically a eugenics-based caste system, somewhat similar to India. He adheres by this system, and all the ramifications that come with it. He basically has, an almost fetishistic obsession with treating lowbloods like shit, and treating higherbloods than him like royalty. Although he does have he doubts (more on that later).
Let's pause this for a second. Now you may think this is ironic, and it sort of is.
Equara is a pretty bad ship. And yet. I can't help but feel that, like so many other things in Homestuck. It was another wasted potential. Or maybe not. Maybe Hussie's intention never went beyond making it a joke. That's what Equius is after all. A device to deliver jokes.
But there's another side to Equius. The Void. So many things about Equius have turned out to be NOT AS BAD or not bad AT ALL regarding him. For a short time, his relationship with Nepeta was believed to be abusive by some, and the truth couldn't be more different.
I wonder if at the end of all this... nah that's actually not likely. Anyway. Let's continue.
Aradia is the lowest of the low. She also dies before she's even introduced. She was killed by her friend, who was literally mindcontrolled, psychically, by a nasty blueblood named Vriska. She used to LARP with Vriska and some other friends, but it eventually turned into a continous fucking circle of revenge that basically ended really fucking bad for everyone involved. We have also found it that Equius was...
Another pause. I just have to mention how absolutely adorable Aradia and Tavros are on this one. This one was also made by an artist who left very early.
Spying on them, as he often does. He likes to stare a lot. And observe. Frankly, it makes everyone a bit creeped out to say the least. Fast forward to the final hours of Alternia. Shit is breaking down, and our 12 trolls need to leave their planet and enter the game, because if they don't, they will all be killed by the Vast Glub. Which is basically an enormous psychic scream from a Cthulhu-esque mess of tentacles monster. This monster lives on the planet and is taken care of by the highest blooded troll, being fed and everything, so that the monster doesn't kill every single fucking troll in the galaxy with her Vast Glub
