A steven universe thread died for this

I want a character whose power is based around shadow puppets

thank you

Why yes, they're one of the oldest forms of entertainment, you know!

If a Japanese person takes their hand, & suddenly makes a shadow puppet with it, is it anime?

Animetards would say yes because they unironically literally believe in magical jap blood and will tell you so if you just ask what makes anime anime

If you flip through a comic book really fast, does it suddenly become a cartoon?

Based Primalbro

Maybe if it's got one of those flip book animations in the bottom corner.
Regular panels wouldn't show continuous motion.

Puppets aren't animation, they're a live performance. If you use stop-motion it's a different story.

>Regular panels wouldn't show continuous motion.
>Regular
Are there any comic book artists that actually do that?

>Puppets aren't animation
I'm pretty sure puppets are Zig Forums. I've seen muppet & MST3K topics on occasion. By that logic shadow puppets are animated, meaning they're the most basic form of cartoon. You're giving a shadow life. That's animation by the literal definition.

Are you Zig Forums?

It already is a cartoon.

Why would they that’s completely illogical for the medium

Not saying it doesn't belong here, just that it isn't animation. And puppetry threads are deleted plenty of times also.
I wouldn't say animation involves making life, more like an illusion of it. You're not moving anything, as much as you manipulate still images into motion. If puppets are animation, then so is rubber suit Godzilla.

of course

horseshit, puppets are Zig Forums, there were plenty of Dark Crystal threads.

panels showing continuous motino is illogical for the medium of comics?

Captain underpants

In my Scandinavian wickerman festivals board?
No way.

Devil's advocate: There's a difference between making each panel a frame of animation and making each page a frame. The material american comics use makes for a hard cap on pages and flippy flopping through pages for a captain underpants style flip o rama would be a waste of an issue. I'd have been pissed if I was reading one punch man as it came out and half the issue was the mangaka jerking off on the page.

based!

wtf I love shadow puppets now!

Good.

Threads about western comics get deleted all the time here too, janitors don't follow their own rules

none of this is an argument for it being illogical. while page cap is an argument against doing it, it can still work well if it's done. but I agree that it being done technically well does not necessarily mean that it's enjoable to read in a monthly release. off the top of my head I remember the "chapter" with Metal Knight arriving for the meteor and how I said "That's it?" out loud when I "read" it.

Shame the posters didin't follow suit

underrated
