Why is everyone dumping on SU?

Because since the end of the series it has pretty much vanished from the conscious of animation discussion outside this board, and the core fan base who held it aloft has moved on to the next new shiny lgbt bait show in the line up. The hindsight remorse of realizing that the series ultimately went nowhere and was only relevant due to #groundbreaking gay stuff and the promise of a better plot has caused people to become irritated with it more. Mostly all the dumping threads are a form of coping over feeling dumb for having stayed invested in a lemon for so long.

the show unfortunately saw a huge boost in popularity following Garnet's song, which in turn attracted a large number of contrarians or genuine critics looking to use the show as a vehicle for clout.

Adventure Time was once "that show", and then SU took its place in a way.

Everyone realized Spinel was the only good thing to come out of it.

Everything about it is bad.

SU has a more toxic fandom, which brings more attention. Not only that, they always tout that SU is the pinacle of storytelling and animations and what not, while you barely hear anything about megafans of AT or SV threatening a fanartist to attempted suicide, or saying its better than anything else, ever.

Bad art not really, the backgrounds are honestly the most beautiful I ever saw in a 2010's CN cartoon.
The character design aren't easy to stomach but I appreciate the simple.

AT was a lot better for a lot longer
It only really became irredeemable trash from Season 7 onwards, but even then it still had the odd really good episode (and a great miniseries like Islands)

Steven Universe is a disaster of a cartoon. It had some potential at the very beginning but it just got worse, and Sugar ended up implying incest between Steven and his dad, since principles can't stand in the way of her stupid decisions.

Every single story in the show had engine failure. The "setting" just ended up as flavor for the bland humans and therapy rocks, nothing in the show was ever committed to besides pleasing people who enjoy Twitter.

Its a show that gets a lot of praise and popularity, kind of exudes a lot of progressive smugness, and is finished so it doesn't really have new things to wait on the development of its story.
