Pretty much. While what Nimfa did to him was still very fucked up, the truth is he never aspired to be anything bigger in life for the sake of his love interest and seemed uncaring at times of what she thought/had to say which wasn't about food or sex.
The fact he still approached her despite him almost dying because of what she caused shows that probably no other but her really cared for his situation and visited him (one of the few things Nimfa did in the movie which was not fucked up) and ended up falling in love with her. Lets just hope she does not return to her old habits and cuck him like Roger.
