This kind of sucks. I don't get the hype.

Is this even still going? I stopped reading it after it got rebooted in the middle of a fucking arc and came back as like, kind of an unfunny humor comic

I only read the first few issues but I just didn't care for the main characters.

First book was a decent "RPG characters as real people, but lol they are all grills!" story. I actually think the Orc chick was the best character.

The 2nd book was less good, and I stopped reading after that.

Most famous indies in the 2000's 2010's, suck to some capacity. Of all forms of media for some ungodly reason most popular comics of a genre happen to be some of the worst examples of it.

I absolutely love it; and I hold to it that the Rat Queens are easily the best cast of main characters in American comics currently published by a country mile - or at least, now that Giant Days has run its course.

It deserves all the praise it gets, and I am glad to see that it's still published.

This post was made by a person who reads fifty capeshit books a month.

This past decade was like a second golden age for indie comics, one inventive, endlessly creative masterpiece published after another (most of them by Image).

How can you like a book full of unlikeable asshole main characters whose dialogue practically shrieks shrill coffee house bitches?

"What if my bitch friends were in a Fantasy setting" is hardly creative.

Its at a pace of one-two books a year. Just released another issue few weeks ago.

I wish these indie comics had more consistent schedules. Garbage capetrash comes out every month, but a good image book can take months or years off. Fuck.

"What if we showed characters in a high fantasy setting behave like actual people would" is a pretty good idea, yes. Certainly I don't see a lot of other works doing this. It's just Rat Queens and Game of Thrones, really.

Is Rat Queens even a high fantasy setting? The setting itself is barely explored and one of the most generic fantasy settings ever made and is completely pointless to the story besides a few "Quirky race things" that happen.

I don't know what book you are reading; but to me, Betty, Violet, Hannah and Dee are by far the most human, relatable, credible, and simply "real" main characters in the entire current Image lineup. They, alongside their supporting cast, put them up there with casts of Spider-Man and Ms. Marvel.

And take note: they are in fierce competition with the other books from their stable. As far as I'm concerned, Rat Queens is just THAT good.

And before you ask, yes, because of the way the fantasy setting makes their lives special, I would rank them even above John and Suzie from Sex Criminals.

Literally Fell's Five did everything better. Right down to using the races of the characters to actually mean something.

Rat Queens is like playing in a DnD party with people who think "Chaotic Neutral" means "Chaotic stupid" and literally every story revolves around their constant attempts to seem wacky and totally quirky.

It really suffered from a relaunch, dropping the story and constantly switching artists didn’t help, I really could not bring myself to read it again on a regular basis. And of course, like any other Image book, the momentum and pacing is just non-existent

I have this thing called "empathy" (look it up sometime). It lets me understand how actual grown women that are also professionals behave.
