Oh I want them to stick around for a long time to come (especially Ben) and the only reason I half bother with Spider books is to see if Ben and Kaine can show up again, because let's face it, we've had 50 years of Peter Parker stories. They can go somewhere fresh themselves with these guys.
But they're just in limbo right now, all primed to get killed for shock value because you need to hype some big villain that will be good for all of a single arc.
