How could they fucking do this to Anne? I thought she was the protagonist. Her human biology was supposed to protect her. This literally ruins her forever

Honestly, gameplay wise, I'd argue that it's better than the original; it improved on many of the problems that it had and added a whole bunch of new mechanics. The main issue is that Marche is just completely wrong, and the game treats him like a hero. There's even an entire scene where a guy calls Marche out and points out that he's risking the lives of millions, perhaps billions of people for a mere chance to go home, and Marche has no fucking response other than 'no, this world isn't real!' And the guy straight up says 'But I feel real.''

Yeah, I think Amphibia is doing it right since that attitude belongs to Sasha (at least initially she's the most dismissive of having friends in the new world) whereas Marcy is presumably going to champion the opposite extreme (wanting to stay in the new world)
The real irony is that neither treat Amphibia as an actual place, for Sasha it's a prison and for Marcy it's just a glorified video game
