There is no gold standard. Art should be new and different exactly all of the time. Gary Frank severely lacks creativity. He just applies slightly more detailed rendering skills to the same decades old art philosophies. There is literally nothing special about him. Dave Gibbons accomplished everything Gary Frank did 30 years ago, and he did it better.

The composition and lighting in the OP pic are atrocious. The rendering on the characters is wildly inconsistent. The color palette is not even given 5 seconds of thought. It looks like fucking plastic. This is the literal definition of house style, and it's garbage. Please fucking learn anything about art before you decide you know what's good and bad.
