Final Space's story overall is better, but the humor there is far more juvenile than Lower Decks, which has no relevant continuity.
All in all, I'd rather have original properties like Final Space, than mere spin-offs like Lower Decks.

Man, I personally thought season 1 was perfect but the second season just fucked everything up. Fuck Clarence and his kids, fuck Gary’s mother, they brought the show to such a screeching halt. I dunno if it was the executives or Olan but who’s idea was it to kill Lord Commander and turn it into a mugafin collectathon?? Lord Commander and David Tennant were literally the best thing about the show.

Olan has been pretty clear that it was executives who insisted on more Clarence for S2 and that it be more episodic. He has said LC is coming back though, so there's at least that. I think the worst sin was bringing Avocato back, fuck that.
