Very based. Can never go wrong with Moebius.

Cerebus has a bunch of sketches from Dave Sim's notebooks

Gonna post a few neat Hellboy concepts.

>"A drawing done for a convention program booklet [Salt Lake Comic Con '91]. I added the Hellboy name at the last minute and it made me laugh. I wasn't trying to create a character, I just wanted to draw a monster."

he's also fully back at it again at krispy kreme

Another piece that was commissioned by a fan at the same convention.

>"About two years after that first Hellboy drawing, I got serious about doing my own creator-owned comic. My first idea was more like a traditional superhero team: sort of an occult detective version of Challengers of the Unknown or the Fanatstic Four. This is probably the second drawing of Hellboy - less hairy and not drooling but a long way from what he is today. This is the first drawing of Abe and Liz. The other two guys wouldn't make it into the book but would eventually evolve into characters in the BPRD series -- the guy with the gun would turn into Daimio and the guy with the '80s New Wave haircut into Johann. I tried to come up with a name for this group but just couldn't do it. Everything sounded silly. I finally decided to downplay the team and stick to the name Hellboy. Nice and simple, and it still made me laugh".

Another drawing of proto-Hellboy for the cover of Italian fan zine Dime Press.

Been looking for that quote forever, no one believes me when I tell them Hellboy was at one point going to be a superhero.

Is he drawing all of that? Though a Dave Sim comic without Dave Sim lettering is almost not a Dave Sim comic. Rambling and unwieldly there are a few excellent stretches in there about comics history.

Eh, it flip-flops between the two depending on if there's emotion.
That still gets rid of a lot of nuance, but I can see why they chose to forgo it.

Honestly the writer's sketch has more attitude and better proportions, the artist's execution looks like a generic mannequin with a texture slapped on top

Would give my left nut for more of The Marquis

That's my storytime that nobody cared about!

I kind of like how he looks in action. And the artificiality is intentional. He's not human.

I never read any Valiant but Rai is one of the characters John Ostrander wrote. Can I get into his run without any prior knowledge or should I start reading Rai from prior point?

I love how creative some artists use the boom tube, also one of my favourite pages from Venditti's run.

That's a very Simonson BOOM, I like.

No idea, sorry. I've not read any of the 90s stuff, only the reboot.

I want a study like this.
