As far as swordsmanship goes, presumably from the army she was training with, Grimes in particular. You can still see that she's inexperienced with a sword in particular in her fight, but it's demonstrated that she's been practicing a lot, especially after her first fight.
Her athleticism in general is otherwise linked to her being the head cheerleader.
