Therein lies the problem and the reason Finn being cucked/ignored is always brought up.

Adventure Time, for it's beginning in Spring of 2010 to its final episode in Fall's 2018, has been a show about the Human Boy Finn and his magical stretchy dog Jake.
The show was 90% about their wackadoodle adventures, and only rarely did it split off and focus on other characters. Up until the end. Around the time we can all agree the writers unified in hatred of Finn and just made HIM the side character, which is shortly after the writers decided that Romance and "GASP DRAMA" plot lines were needed EN MASSE.

It's okay to have episodes with sidecharacters, and b plots and c plots, or sometimes the rare episode, devoted to fan beloved side characters...

But they're fucking side characters.

And a large amount of people are still generally annoyed that Finn and Jake were not even critical to the FINAL FUCKING EPISODE of their own show.

Now the show gets its own HBO specials, a final HURRAH to the franchise.
And Finn and Jake are in only 25% of them. 1/4 of the specials of their own show.

So fuck you, user, for accepting this shit decision and the assassination of the original show. Enjoy your edgelord cringe-inducing 'romance' drama in the upcoming Obsidian episode.

1) they were critical, and 2) they were about as critical as they possibly could've been.

When the show got cancelled, they had about a gajillion things they had to wrap up in only four episodes' worth. This included two major plot points - the gum war, and simon/betty, neither of which Finn was the central figure of. Given this, they did the best they realistically could've to make Finn important to both of these storylines, in having Finn be the one to facilitate the war's end, and having Finn trapped with Betty/Simon inside GOLB. (I actually liked how they subverted my expectationsby having Finn be saved by the various denizens of Ooo.)

On top of this they had Finn kill Fern's inner demons with Jake's help, and Jake free Simon/Finn by amplifying everyone's singing. Again, given the constraints, I don't know how else they could've made Finn/Jake more important without straight-up ignoring loose story threads.

This is so retarded. We got Islands and Elements back to back in the penultimate season for fuck's sake, as well as the introduction of Fern, and the bringing back of HW as a love interest. It's a shame the latter two didn't get more development, but that's not the fault of the crew. Reminder: the show was cancelled.

In short, this sentiment needs to fucking die in a fire. I'm so sick of people ignoring entire seasons' worth of content just so they can pretend the writers hated Finn. For what purpose? So you can be angrier on the internet? I truly don't understand this mentality.

the show is being marketted as Marceline and PBG adventures, but who cares? no one likes pbg as an adventurer, marceline only worked as a spooky cute side character.
