Go ahead, I've been rewatching the series and having a good time. If you like stupid cool weapons and cool fight scenes you'll have fun. V1-3 has some questionable animation quality for non-fights, while V4 has much weaker fight animation.
I jumped in when I suddenly came into a lot of spare time. It was fine. It's not great but it flows - it will be enough to watch. Once you've invested in it you'll be trapped though and stuck here watching everything burn. I mean, I suppose you'll start on the end of vol. 7 so you'll be entering the series post-burn. Being here for 7 before the fact was a trip and not a good one.
If you like cute waifus then this show has lots of them, this show was literally created by an autist weeb that really wanted his own anime. The first volume is pretty rough but still entertaining at points, production wise it does get better each volume but writing wise it ranges from absolute garbage to ok.

It was still bearable pre-timeskip, but last V4 it just straight up sucked balls. I'm only still here because I'm a masochist (and also I'm bored).
It would actually be neat if Ren was somehow a martial purist on top of being a pragmatist. The two conflicting aspects of romanticising combat while simultaneously pursuing efficient results in missions and goals would be interesting.

Hey, is it just me? Or does RWBY seem to take a lot of inspiration from FMA, both 2003 and the manga/Brotherhood?
I don’t know why, but a lot of what happens seems really similar to Fullmetal Alchemist. Like Cinder’s original design looking like Lust, the way Salem regenerates, Ozpin’s brand of immortality, the designs of some of the robotic limbs being similar to automail, Ruby’s weapon fascination being similar to Winry’s love of automail, the corrupt military, some Faunus traits being very similar to some chimeras and some grimm being very similar to some other chimeras, even the whole idea of an immortal being of darkness with a small group of followers and a grudge against the Gods and a hate of humanity seems so similar to a fusion of Father and Dante

No. The show's very DNA is cringe shit that should have stayed in some highschool note book. Rwby is at its core a WN that never gets an LN, ya feel? Yet because of the American market and Monty's unique position he actually got a chance to make his first draft autism fest into a proper production.
He should have been rebuked multiple times and the idea refined or abandoned.
Having it appear in games with Melty is pretty funny because melty is like one step past that level of raw autism with persona being a level above melty.

Yes, definitely. But how much better depends on the studio. Also if Oum did do that, this gen would be on Zig Forums, which is a much better board to discuss shit on (less tumblr trannies albeit more virgin incels).
If he pitched it to a jap studio the quality of the final product would really depend on who he collaborated with and how much time, budget and resources they would be willing to give him. But we wouldn't have M&K as writers so there would be a near certain upgrade in that department, they would probably be more strict and slap Monty's hand away from the keyboard when he wants to add random shit in at the last minute.
