I can barely understand what's going on on these panels, congratz

Are pears better than a soldering iron?
Answer is, it depends on what you're looking for.

Generally yes.

The only difference between manga and American comics is that their industry embraced the indies to the point of literally depending on a steady flow of new talent to keep their several hundred manga magazines afloat.

In general, yes. Western comics have much higher highs but also lower lows.

There is only one good manga

This; manga will occasionally have big fandom moments, but Japan didn't literally report on all their national news networks that Goku had died like we did when Superman died. But a big part of that is because 70% of the market is shares by two companies who primarily use the same stable of the same 40 or so characters, so when something big happens to them, it effects the whole industry.

I really want to read the other manga by these two creators. This is easily among the best manga I've read.

>Ippo was literally on the cusp of being made punchdrunk
>Is now basically focusing on being a couch a d supporting his bros
Only a sports manga with staying power has the balls to make its MC stop fully participating in the manga's key sport.

There was once a funeral held for a manga character that died, the character was a boxer so they managed to get a real boxing ring for the event (or so I heard) around 700 people attended it.

Ippo is a mediocre manga regardless.

Sometimes manga is better sometimes its not.
really depends on the comic itself instead of where it comes from IMO.

I wouldn't mind Ippo being benched so much if the other boxers were actually worth giving a damn about.
>takamura is a plot device
>sendo is a shittier joe
The other boxers are so forgettable I already forgot most of them except for volg which is actually somewhat good. I hate Ippo because it let me down. It's just PUNCH HARDER the manga.

raoh from fist of the north star also had an irl funeral at one point

Ippo is shitty gag manga by this point. Anytime there's a serious moment in the manga it's immediately followed by some unfunny gag that relies on toilet humor or dick jokes since the author doesn't have the balls to actually have some deep serious moments to dampen the mood a bit. Whereas Joe will have like one or two gags and then focus on the story for the rest of the chapter.

Japanese are too cheap to ink their comic books.

It's not hard to understand at all, so yeah, congratz.

I don’t get it

Explain it then.

The momment you said boxer funneral i thought of joe, I didnt expect Rikishi

No. Let's talk about my feelings and how You are chauvinist pig for 3 next pages. Let's go Marvel!

The male and female characters in the bottom panels look like they could be in any other manga, they're completely generic. Why are nips so uncreative?

>every year Superman dies
>every year Superman origin story
Yeah fuck that shit. Show it up your ass.
I will watch more snyderkino doe

>indies
>Japan comic industry
You do know the vast majority of manga is published by one of three companies, right?

They are literally the same word, but translated.

>This stupid fucking debate again
I'm fucking tired of this bullshit. As someone who indulges in both Zig Forums and Zig Forums let me tell you shitposting faggots. Manga isn't inherently better than comics, you dumb assess either enamored in how new it is to you or are just trying to start shit. The manga industry is full of shit art, low effort garbage and blatant retreads of retreads. Just like the comics industry they are more than happy to pull out a famous name or beloved character and make their corpse dance for a few bucks, they're more than happy to let a series that has gone over the hill decades ago keep going for eternity. The Manga industry can be just as creatively bankrupt as the comics industry, you'd know this if you actually read anything other than the Shonen Jump and well known names. The entire iseki side of the industry proves this

The american comic book industry committed suicide. When the big bois created the Comics Code Authority, they only let their friends in and strangled independent publishers. any innovation was heavily frowned upon so everything wound up being cookie cutter superhero crap. i find it entertaining that fans find things like deadpool because he breaks the status quo by being a slightly different superhero.

the internet liberated the industry and caused the CCA to shit itself. now we have new stuff like scott pilgrim but it was too late, everything is online now

Just don't read shit comics then.

(At least) 90% of anything is shit. If a manga gets translated that means someone thought it was worth translating for whatever reason.

Better than capeshit yeah for sure. Better than western comics at large though that's more subject to opinion

Attached: animation_dungeons-and-dragons.gif (470x351, 368.77K)

and even then its mostly shit, and comics are also dominated by shit, its just a pile of shit, at least we still have the goon and nagatoro, at least there is some good in this god forsaken world

This. THAT code is the reason why superheeoes dominated. Because every other genre was shunned for being too violent or sexual at the time.

Comics are flicks, manga is film.

Yeah, but if you only look at translated manga it will look better than if you look at all of it.

in its current days and age, yes. There might be a debate with euro comics but against corporate capeshit, it's a no-match.

Americans are so fucking ignorant holy shit you are fucking cattle.

>Better than western comics at large
nah, if you include Europe you have to take into account many autor driven stories and thousands of literal work of art .
