How was it trash? It was simple and to the point. There was some cool lore and dark shit hinted at but the main focus was the family stuff and comedy.
The S2 finale being rushed was because Nickelodeon forced the writers to come up with the finale in 1 week after getting cancelled out of nowhere, and for a rushed finale, it was still pretty fun and didn't leave too much unanswered.
The movie will be great as well.

not at all. Just because they act goofy it doesn't mean they are all Michaelangelo (well except for 1 episode, that one with the poisoned pizza puffs was pretty bad)
Mikey in this show is an optimistic, childish, softie who has a tiny psychotic side. He often tries to do the right thing and be good to others except with the few times where he goes apeshit over specific problems.
Leonardo is a carefree trickster who likes to act dumb, but is actually pretty clever. He has a competitive side and doesn't like to put effort into stuff. He always tries to have a cool head and be in control of situations.
Donatello is an egomaniacal scientist who wants to be recognized by his genius and always thinks he's right. He puts way too much effort and thought into stuff and gets furious when something doesn't go his way. He's often cynical and pessimistic and doesn't like to show emotions.
Raphael is constantly struggling between acting with logic and acting through emotion. He's the leader and feels he has to be the most responsible one, so he often does most of the work the others don't (Leo because he doesn't care, Donnie, because he occupies himself with other stuff, and Mikey because he doesn't know what to do). He often feels he lets people down so he puts a brave face in every confrontation to make things work.
None of them are the same at all. They all have their differences and unique traits.

there's a movie coming out and a campaign to bring the show back. Not sure what are the chances, but the stream is acknowledging the fact that Nick fucked up in the marketing. The fact that even Nick is sharing this event through social media is more effort than Disney put into WOY when that got cancelled, thats for sure.

this isn't about 2k2 mikey, it's about rise. Those characters don't act the same IN THAT SHOW, so whatever parallels they have with other characters from previous TMNT doesn't matter. By that logic, you would say all Splinters pre-Rise are the same just because they are wise and act old, as if that is the only thing each Splinter has for them as a character.

I haven't seen the 2k3 version of turtles but I would like to believe that version of Mikey has a little more going for him than basic descriptions I made on the spot.
You're associating "goofy and comedic qualities" with Michaelangelo, but if you are just basing it on that, every comedic cartoon character of shows nowadays is just a ripoff of Michaelangelo. Rise is a comedic take on the franchise, so obviously characters will act goofy, but that doesn't make them instantly Michaelangelo. You also struggled a lot with Donnie and Raph, the only ones you could make an association was the old Mikey (duh) and Leo, which disregards the other things I mentioned about him. If Mikey from 2k2 was nice and a softie then he wasn't like Leo from Rise, who likes to be an ass to others.
Kraang, the Utoms, and the Triceratons were hinted at in the last episodes. There's also some wild shit down in the Mystic City they never got to deal with, like the 3 giant heads (who might also be Kraang in secret) and the crying titan.

it's good that it ends at the movie because their weapons have been downgraded so it's only a matter of time before they devolve into the status quo of the old cartoons
