MCU FAKE LEAKS

Remember when Coulson was supposed to become the Vision?

It's weird that JARVIS/Vision has been in the MCU as long as Tony Stark, but the two instantly stopped having any connection as soon as Vision got a body.

still kinda bummed that didn't happen. tho i like paulie b

It kind of feels like anything that could have been done with that connection got dropped so they could have Tony be a father figure to Spider-Man instead. Tony doesn't even mention Vision in Endgame.

I don't think that's it, I think gradually Tony became flanderized as his solo films proved more successful than Thor or Cap's, at least initially.

Hell, Phase 2 was basically Battle Royale for directors, the only ones who nailed their sequel was the Russos, so they got the reins. They knew how to structure Cap, but Tony had already completed a character arc in his own films. But he was the face of the franchise, so he couldn't be abandoned.

I think Whedon, of course, has his part to play. The fact that he writes everybody quippy means Tony's voice became the MCU's voice.

The Russos got to tell the core story of Phase 3, but Vision was too powerful for the stories they wanted to tell in Civil War and Infinity War. They had a character arc for him, but it's condensed due to higher profile characters taking the spotlight, and he suffered from them not knowing what to do with him during action scenes, he's either absent, inactive, or injured. Everyone expected him to be rebuilt in Endgame, instead only Wanda even mentions him, and not by name.

Playing up the idea that he was the closest thing Tony had to a son could've given him a bigger role, but Spider-Man got added in phase 3, and they gave him the role of being treated like a son by Tony.

Honestly, JARVIS never came off like a son to me, and I thought it was creepy as hell that they stapled Ultron to Tony instead of Pym, doing the daddy issues thing would've only added to that.

I don't think there's a bigger "FOOL YOU" that has happened to the mass public than the post credits rumor for Iron Man 3, where Tony gets a call from Starlord saying he needed him, and Tony going off into space with this suit on.
People everywhere were reporting this as official.

Oh that note, is anyone kind of stunned at how little Vision was used in the MCU? Like, he shows up EXTREMELY late into Age of Ultron, sporadically appears in Civil War, then gets some actual screentime and dies in Infinity War.

I remember being kinda excited for that. I was such a fool.

>Honestly, JARVIS never came off like a son to me,
But Vision wasn't JARVIS, he was something new, created from combining what was left of JARVIS with the Mind Stone and the body Ultron made. At the least there's a story in Tony expecting Vision to be his loyal JARVIS, and having to accept that he isn't.

>and I thought it was creepy as hell that they stapled Ultron to Tony instead of Pym, doing the daddy issues thing would've only added to that.
Even if Ant-Man had got made back in Phase 1, it was always going to be Scott Lang, we were never going to get Hank Pym as part of the Avengers cast, so Ultron's origin was always going to get changed.

The problem with Phase 2 is that Whedon clearly wanted his Avengers sequel that ignored the other films. Iron Man 3 ended with Tony blowing up his suits, Tony appears in AoU with a new one. Captain America Winter Soldier ended SHIELD and Fury went into hiding? Fury just waltzes back in with a fucking Helicarrier in the films' climax. Falcon wasn't even invited, and War Machine feels like a last minute addition to the final fight cause they just got Don Cheddle to do the face stuff.

I'm fully convinced that Whedon made Age of Ultron without conversing with the other directors.

I remember thinking how off it was that the Guardians would need Iron Man for their first film. Like, why him of all people?

>I now remember that epic supposed leak of AoU where Ultron and the Avengers would fight over the Time gem, with Scarlet Witch bending reality, activating it and moving through multiple time loops while battling

>anything involving something cool with The Hulk

That's because they were basing it off of the Bendis comic.

>Oh that note, is anyone kind of stunned at how little Vision was used in the MCU?
Yes. Vision fans are used to him being mistreated in the comics, but after AoU it was shocking how little was done with him, they killed him twice, and we still don't even know if he's going to be real in his own show.

>Red Skull would return in the first Avengers movie with the cosmic cube
>Red Skull would be posing as Alexander Pierce in The Winter Soldier
I think there where numerous other rumours about Red Skull's return like he'd become Thanos, or he'd team up with Loki in Age of Ultron or some shit, ultimately we just got an after-thought reference in Infinity War/Endgame

Vision isn't really JARVIS, though.

I believe that, at that point, Marvel Studios wanted the Avengers movie to function as standalone movies since a lot of people that didn't bother to watch the Phase 1 solo movies still turned up for the first movie, and they didn't want to alienate that audience by playing too hard into events from the Phase 2 solos that said people might not have watched.

I feel that was only dropped after the more continuity-heavy Captain America: Civil War made as much bank as your average Avenger movie and proved the audience was along for the ride either way.

The third homecoming film that had all the movie spidermen together, I still don't know how so many people believed in that

It is a pretty sexy suit.

they never even mention he used to be JARVIS

Yeah

I 100% believed the EMP Grenade/dead War Machine Civil War leaks

Not exactly a leak but I remember hearing that pic related was going to appear in Infinity War. I knew it was a long shot but it still hurt when he didn't. I know that the Netflix initiative went to shit after the first couple seasons, and that Feige hates everything Perlmutter touched with a fury, but Daredevil was solid and Cox was great in the role. I'm hoping with the two year contract limit finally being up that Marvel doesn't just sweep it all under the rug and reboot the character entirely.

Mfw even Howard the duck was invited

He had randomly joined the team in the comics around that time and people thought it was synergy.

Turned out to just be Bendis trying - and failing - to predict the MCU's future plans.

God I remember the Marvel Legends figure of that fucking suit warming the shelves at basically every Walmart around me for at least two years after it came out.

Id love for daredevil and punisher actor to return they clearly loved the roles they played just we're given shit scripts during both their season 2's

>That rumor about Black Widow wielding the gauntlet

I think it had something to do with disbelief that the actor really did want nothing to do with getting a big fat Hollywood paycheck for doing a silly roll. I mean the dude played goddamn Megatron in, what, four Michael Bay movies? I can understand people thinking that had to be a lie to cover some surprise reappearance.
