Deadpool: What Happened?

What happened to Deadpool?
He use to be SUPER popular! Everyone loved him! He had two critically praised movies! TWO MOVIES!!! And he had tons of comic book exposure! He had tons of crossovers, Minis, and team books! He was in the Avengers! (Unity Squad) for crying out loud!!!!

Yet his book has been cancelled and Marvel isn’t doing anything for him for his 30th Anniversary?!!!!

What happened, Zig Forums?

Where did the love for Deadpool go?!!!

Does no one care about Deadpool?!!

because he was a trend lol

Disney bought Marvel because the characters are role models.

DP simply does not fit the new disney/marvel brand image.
Same reason Jessica Jones and the other Netflix shows got butchered.

Dont people still like Deadpool?

Then why make comics back then? Why stop now?

Not to mention Venom isn’t a role model but he gets comics. Or does the fact he and Morbious have movies mean they get comics.

His comics were always shitty, so people stopped wasting their money

I doubt that

Disney bought Marvel back in 2009 and has been cleaning up the content ever since.
Violent character such as Deadpool, Punisher and Venom were around long before Disney bought their rights.

Venom and Morbious movies are produced by Sony
Deadpool 1&2 are produced by Fox before Disney bought them too.

Also the new Venom comics turn Eddy into more of a good guy.
New Deadpool comics are also less violent then the old ones.

He's still popular but his book currently sucks and there isn't any new movie news since the Disney merger

>New Deadpool comics are also less violent then the old ones.
How much less?

Fantastic Four and Iron Man don’t have movies in development and they still have comics?

Is this bait or are you too stupid to realize the that the film rights to these characters are all owned by separate businesses?

Hasn't had a great writer on his main book since the 90's. Gradually became an overexposed meme over time. Doubled down on the meme shit after the movies, not realising that they were only really good because of Ryan Reynolds. Now MCU doesn't want the character because R ratings aren't Disney, and I believe Marvel put a fucking woman on his book so it's obviously shit and not selling.

Basically, after the Duggan run seemingly took him far away from his original concept with all the focus on tragedy (even though that's not really right, and there was still plenty of humor) they attempted more "back to basics" runs, but it just hasn't worked at all. None of them have sold well.

I liked Duggan for the most part

>but his book currently sucks
Deadpool only had 2 good runs ever since he was created and the rest was pure garbage.

He's past his peak of popularity. I think because discussion of the second movie was so overshadowed by infinity war people just kinda forgot about him

Is Priest's run good?

which implies that his popularity was all viral marketing
if there's no merch popularity dies

Yes if you want what's basically a sitcom starring Deadpool, Constrictor and Titania.

I still like him, Kelly Thomspon is just a dumb unfunny bitch who can't write good

he's annoying fuck him i hate everything to do with him

Wrong, there's definitely solid DP material but it's all pre 2014 for the most part.

Is deadpool and cable still a good read these days? If you had to say ONE run of DP is worth reading, which would it be? Classics? Xforce? Team Up?

This is just the usual trend with Wade where he'll get one pretty good, maybe even really good comic run, and then it degenerates back to "haha funni internet meme man" Wade for a few years. Eventually it'll wrap back around if we're lucky, but for the time being its in a period of it being kinda shit.
I'm just waiting to see if anybody will actually bring Ellie back into the mix, because for the most part it was actually kinda adorable and nice and not too forced and shitty to see him being a shitty dad.
Other than that though just wait for him and Spider-Man to do a thing again and he'll jump back up again, since everyone loves that shit.

Deadpool was just a fad

Women shouldn't be allowed to write comic books or anything

fads don't last 20 years

Mary Shelly wrote the first classical sci-fi novel.
You may have heard of it, it's called Frankenstein.

Dumb fuck

That's pretty rude user, how dare you.

The appeal of Deadpool lasts around 5 minutes after he’s broken the 4th wall the 3rd time. We get it, he makes zany and wacky references and jokes, cool. But is he a character that’s good or interesting? I’d say no
Disney bought Marvel so they could sell toys. It’s hard to sell a toy to parents of children when the character is an assassin who kills for money.

I'm old enough to remember a time when Deadpool was actually hated by Marvel editorial and they where kind of embarrassed by him and really downplayed him.

they bought it so they could sell movies. toy sales have been plummeting for a decade now. kids these days prefer phone games.
