I recall seeing a clip of a panel where Rob and Maurice seem to regret doing that skit for Doug Walker where Brain verbally abuses Pinky to tears.

Dante Basco seems to have similar regrets for agreeing to be Zuko in his ATLA review.

I'm glad they do, I admit that skit is pretty funny but... Poor Pinky :(

He was always evil with a soft spot. The reboot version also has him trust Pinky over a future version of himself when he warns him over Pinky being a “traitor”.
The worst thing he did was with that Hilary Clinton mouse, which was more setup for her becoming a recurring villain later

The original show had a bunch of touching moments where the grumpy cynical characters like Brain and Slappy showing significant love towards the overly joyful and optimistic companion character
Don't think the reboot really has that so far

Brain was never evil, he thinks the world under his rule would be a utopia (thanks to his high intellect)

As they should. That skit was the lamest thing ever and the fact that they agreed to do it in the first place scrabbles my brain.

This, it has potential but it needs better writers, more characters/sketches, better sound editing and while I like Dot they need to give all the Warner’s a focus not just her

In a perfect world this special is played every year alongside the Rankin Bass and Charlie Brown classics.

did you watch them all at once? I noticed it was better to take breaks. I started to get over it, so I saved them for later and the ones I thought weren't so strong were better. Its a lot of stuff in a show to binge like that

Dot is really popular with my female friends, but she is the least "silly" so its probably a lot easier to write a story with her if you're not going to just be wacky

That right there sounds like an omission that you think it needs improvement. Also the cynicism is the worst part of the show it’s like the writers have never watched or know nothing about the show. It had some slight cynicism but it was a very fun hopeful show at its best

Its kinda shitty when someone tries to just do the same exact thing, its a different era. This direction does seem a deliberate, I respect it.

I was a huge fan of Animaniacs when I was a kid and continued to love their humor well into adulthood and I loved the reboot. It could use a tweak here and there, but it's a new generation with new writers and all that, so it's not going to be 100% identical to the original. That having been said, it felt like basically just another season of the show to me. The only real issue with it is they need to bring at least some of the old characters back. I love the Warners but there's just too much focus on them. Hell, the Warners themselves were complaining about this in the game hunter episode.

That makes no sense user, I’m not saying things are black and white. All I said was even in your own defense of the show you state the show needs improvement, stop trying to be obtuse.

I’m not saying they have to be the exact same but character choices like making Chicken Boo a bad guy or making Scratchansniff an asshole is a complete misunderstanding of what makes the characters tick
