There was always an intent of making Dot this negative image of a feminist girl character. The Original Show Bible has her more of a spoiled brat then a comical weird girl that she ended up being.
So Nu-maniacs decided to go 110% on bratty "my way only" girl attitude that the OG staff wrote out.
