and how many of them were political/social in nature? because the original had a lot of great jokes, and the only reason youd think it was 99% political/social commentary is if you didnt really watch it but only remember whats talked about most
but is it just me or did the reboot feel like it had way more political/social commentary humor, than just plain puns, quips and jokes about other less controversial things?
i guess you're probably just realizing everyone creative hates your political views, and by extension you yourself. I'm sure its not a great feeling.

It does feel like 2016 never ended sometimes

0 because I will never watch it. FUCK REBOOTS AND FUCK YOU TOO!

This but unironically.

I feel like the political and social and pop culture commentary sticks out more because its the stuff that had to adapt to the passing decades as the topics evolve whereas stuff like Mathterpiece Theater, Starbox and Cindy, the warners with Marie Antoinette, Odysseus, and Pablo Picasso, Who Donut, the Orient Express parody, and the Chicken Boo episode felt the most like the original
And because Pinky and the Brain's wheelhouse was always politics they've just thrived with the current status quo whereas the warners have had to change it up
that thing where pinky moves his jaw at the last second of the closeup weirds me out. Like it was a mistake and instead of redoing it they just moved on and realigned it for cheapness sake.

There's a Russia Episode my mans. >"everyone creative" You try to perform witch hunts against conservatives, don't delude yourself that being a leftie with some form of Derangement Syndrome is the sole way to have the boon of making art.
No surprise that they would forget.

>There's a Russia Episode my mans. And it seemed to still run on cold war russia imagery desu, take out Putin and you can fucking tell the difference between this and a Russia segment from the 60s.They completely dropped the ball with that one, should've been China (but obviously they don't have the balls).
Dominic Perry
>so how many jokes did yall count in the numaniacs Who the fuck is going to do that? Just watch the show and either enjoy it and continue watching or don't enjoy it and don't continue. Fuck off with your joke ratio sperg bullshit.
Thomas Turner
this is honestly the reason i dont respect animaniacs and other 'haha yeah bro we just make fun of everyone and dont care who thinks whats! were totally taking risks here and being controversial!' comedians, because thats never truly the case. theyll only make jokes that are popular and acceptable to joke about, and then say 'yup weve really got some balls to make fun of these things that every other current media can make fun of, thank you.'
is there a name for that? media whos whole sell is being 'controversial and offensive' but who chooses to do so very safely and inoffensively. kinda having your egg and eating it too
Cooper Watson
nontroversial humor.
Jonathan James
>And it seemed to still run on cold war russia imagery desu, take out Putin and you can fucking tell the difference between this and a Russia segment from the 60s
That's the joke. Modern day Russia has been regressing back to its old state for two decades now in all but political ideology
Alexander Gray
>in all but political ideology so what else is there? what IS it regressing in?
Leo Rogers
political jokes hit different now. because people's approach to politics has changed. before it was tribal, now it's fucking religious. so even if it's fairly easy to make direct parallels to content from the '90s, the way it feels to a modern audience has shifted, because it feels like you're directly insulting Jesus in a kids' show. which even if you're not into that guy, yeah it just feels wrong, like maybe we just shouldn't go down that path in this environment.
oh and also you're a sensitive little snowflake and go huff your copium somewhere else

I decided to rewatch the older show. There's a lot more, simply from the nature of having the rest of the cast gone. One segment or two a year to three segments for half of a super shortened season. Something like a 700 percent increase. It's still not that much of the show, but it's a big increase.
The peak of intensity is somewhat higher, but not dramatically so.
Ther'es also a difference in tilt. They don't go after anyone who could get them canceled. At most it gets a few throwaway lines. Speaking of which, they should do a bit on the Censors being replaced.

>should've been China Thought so too. It would've made much more sense in the context (China is known for bootlegs. Russia on the other hand is known more for bizarre, "Worker and Parasite" animation). But obviously they are too scared plus shitting on China or calling out their bio-engineered plague is racist. And I think it was more about throwing in that air force one dig at the end.
