Rigby sucks at video games but still loves playing with his bro

>Rigby sucks at video games but still loves playing with his bro
>Instead of talking it out with Rigby, Mordecai just invites Skips to a video game tournament that Rigby really wants to be a part of and tries to hide it from Rigby by pretending like the tournament was lame
>Rigby, naturally salty about this, expresses his frustration in the same passive-aggressive way that Mordecai did with the tournament
>Skips didn't even know Mordecai hadn't asked Rigby first, and outright says that what Mordecai did was messed up
>Mordecai acts like he's the victim in all of this
Mordecai confirmed shittiest friend

Learning life lessons is hard

The lesson being "bros who don't have each others backs and hide shit from each other aren't actually bros"?

It was really unexpected how Rigby matured over the series and Mordecai stayed exactly the same. There's a message in there somewhere.

Yeah some people are only your friend because they feel better about themselves hanging out with a loser

Honesly, Rigby does screw up a lot, but most of the time mordecai is just an asshole who thinks he is better than everyone else.

But you go to a tournament to win, if not you shouldnt bother.

If it were me and my friends, and one of them really wanted to be a part of a tournament despite sucking and I really wanted to win, I'd actually talk to them about it and try to come to an understanding. Then, if they continued to bitch and moan about it, it's on them.

Mordecai asked Skips to be his partner without even letting Rigby know that the tournament existed, and did everything in his power to try and hide it from Rigby. All the salt and frustration from Rigby was perfectly justified because Mordecai was being a completely shitty friend for the majority of the episode.

bro no... that's chudthink...

Would you be saying all of this if games were replaced with a mainstream sport?

You literally view games only as entertainment, when in tournaments, it's a way to make money and achieve some sort of fame. It's reasonable not to go with a person who literally can't play.

>Would you be saying all of this if games were replaced with a mainstream sport?
In this instance yes, I still would, because neither Mordecai nor Rigby are professionals, they're hobbyists at best.

>You literally view games only as entertainment, when in tournaments, it's a way to make money and achieve some sort of fame. It's reasonable not to go with a person who literally can't play.
And I would agree with that, except for the fact that Mordecai hid the existence of the tournament from Rigby and did everything in his power to ignore Rigby's frustrations until they were actually at the tournament, where he finally decided to loudly yell at Rigby in front of a crowd and tell him that he sucks at video games.

It's not that he chose Skips over Rigby, it's that he did so without telling Rigby about it in the first place.

Nearly thought rigby was holding a condom

Nah, that's too small to be a Rigby condom.

You are taking the episode way too seriously.

I rewatched the series this year and it seems kind of implicitly to be the whole message of Mordecai's arc. For all the shitting on Regular Show that Zig Forums did when it got around the midpoint of the series, Regular Show actually does a great job of showing what being a burnout can look like. At the risk of sounding like autism, it actually deals with some adult themes in a subtle way. Being 23 and feeling like you've always been the "talented" person in your friend group will eat you alive while everyone around you grows.

I actually genuinely admire Rigby for taking steps to improve himself and try to become a better person, because as impulsive and lazy as he appears it would make sense that he would just want to drift through life. If I'm being totally honest, Rigby's behavior and way of thinking makes me think in our world he'd be diagnosed with ADHD, but the series never calls attention to that, which impresses the hell out of me.

You can't just write off everyone the very second they do something thoughtless. Mordecai sees the error of his ways and then bonus moral at the end, the thing they wanted isn't even close to worth risking a friendship over I can personally attest to that. Power glove sucks.

Just as how Mordecai should understand that what he did is would make his bro feel bad, Rigby should also accept that there's a reason his bro did what he did.
Both should stop acting like a bunch of fags, mutually apologize and move on.

For sure, I definitely agree with all that.

Another thing about Regular Show is that it's actually way funnier to watch it with an adult pair of eyes. I think I was like 16 or something when Regular Show premiered and a lot of it didn't hit me super hard, but going back and watching the antics of 23 year old "I guess I work a job because I don't do anything else" guys hits WAY harder when I'm 26. Now that I've actually been that guy, it's funnier than ever.

What a weird cartoon.

Is my 7 year old's favorite and I hope it guides him all throughout his youth - though I do intend to steer him toward a career.

>You can't just write off everyone the very second they do something thoughtless.
True, but Mordecai had several DAYS to think about what he was doing to Rigby, and Rigby was there the entire time and made it very clear how hurt he was about Mordecai's decision. Like you said, he saw the error of his ways at the end, but it's irritating that it took him that long to see how badly he was hurting his best friend.

>nooo stop using this cartoon episode as a stepping stone for discussion just consume the media and move on!!!

As the other user said, Mordecai has a superiority complex which is something I also had at that age and I worry about accidentally putting too much of into my son. Regular Show offers me great teaching moments without having to beat up on myself too much which you can imagine I'm reluctant to do lol. It's also a good funny show in general that thankfully doesn't push homonormalization.

Rigby going back to finish highschool and making Mordecai realize how little he's accomplished in life was the realest the show got to me.

>Rigby should also accept that there's a reason his bro did what he did.
To be fair, he'd never seen Skips in action, and the last time he saw Skips do anything tech-based it was Skips trying to use a sledgehammer to fix a computer error. He had reason to believe Skips would suck at video games, and so Mordecai choosing Skips over him was a betrayal that didn't make sense, hence why he was so stuck on it. I'm sure as he was watching the tournament and watching Skips do well it started making sense, though even that would still sting a bit.

>Power glove sucks.
YOU suck. The power glove is an icon.

Rigby is an expert.

Rigby is an expert bro.

Aesthetically. That's why I keep one but you should try using one to play NES with. It's a joke. That's why I DON'T have the emitters

At least Mordecai never kept Rigby from going to college by faking a rejection letter. Seriously, Mordecai might do some bad shit from time to time but actively jeopardizing your friend's future is damn near unforgivable.

Get over it Mordecry.

both of them were awful but Mordecai was objectively more awful because he didn't change. CJ was the perfect opportunity to give him some character development considering she was basically a second Mordecai but they literally wrote her out of the show the second she started to have plots

At least Rigby never killed Mordecai,ya fag,
