No, come on. It obviously wasn't accident. They did it completely on purpose. This isn't something that just applies to this series either. If you look especially at 90s material, you can see there are lots of instances where creators started putting in ladies and jokes which were more PG. It wasn't by accident. Creators did it, because that's what they enjoyed doing.

Its definitely related but I don't think it has the same genesis. I think the skinny dork with a sexy wife is more of a classic misdirection joke. Whereas a fat guy can be boisterous and jovial and attract a pretty woman, a meek timid man is less likely to pull one, and therefore funnier because we don't expect it and it "subverts our expectations". Revenge of the Nerds is a well known modern example, the earliest cinema one I can think of is Harold Lloyd in Girl Shy. I'm sure there's literary examples I'm unfamiliar with too

Pretty sure the reason why Peg and Pistol were absent was due to Disney saying the movie had to be somewhat separate from Goof Troop, due to the failings of the Ducktales movie making Disney nervous about movies based on their cartoons. Thus, the Goofy movies are only loosely tied to Goof Troop, though only by virtue of omitting some characters and location names.

That's why they kept Goofy and Pete's sons who only exist BECAUSE of Goof Troop and any kid seeing this movie when it came out knew it was tied to that show because of that fact. It's a father and son movie. Pete and his son are supposed to show a different relationship to the one Goofy and Max have. Having the wife and daughter there would only mess it up.
