The ironic thing is that Dragon Ball Z is so great because it lacks depth, but when you remove all depth from Superman, he suddenly sucks.
It's all about the fighting in the end, and fighting in animated capeshit isn't that great honestly. Rarely something cool happens like Flash destroying Brainiac by running around the world over and over in Justice League. But rarely.
