why do I like TMS's more?
Even when they're even less dynamic (the running on the second set of clips) they still feel more real.

Framerate. 2020 looks to be almost half the rate of the '90s show thanks to its inferior ANIMATION budget. Yes, it might have cost more than the original, but most of that money went up the execs and voice cast's noses, not to the actual animation studios.
Also, TMS helped get BTAS its Emmy, thanks to the extra stuff they'd throw in just for shits and giggles to strut how much better they were than the Korean sweatshops.
Why didn't they just get TMS to animate the new series?
Money
Also I think TMS doesn't animate American cartoons anymore
>last foreign production (not counting Bakugan) was Superman vs. The Elite in 2012
What does Bakugan look like with the power of TMS?
2020 lacks motion blurs, in-betweens for key frames, anticipation and follow-through actions, and most important: TIMING.
Looks mostly like modified flash "puppet" rigs. Auto-motion tweens between poses.
I was looking through the animation credits for this season, and surprisingly, the Snipple Animation stuff looks better than Titmouse's. Most of the symbol and tween abuse come from the Titmouse episodes.
How do you know it's Snipple doing the good animation?
The first episode was entirely Snipple and it looks like hot garbage
In addition to everything the other anons are saying, the old one put a lot of focus on the little reactions and gestures since the humor was less hyperactive than the warner brothers segments. The reboot can't do that with computer animation so it tries to make up by keeping them more active, but it's obviously not the same.
They're both not good, but Snipple is better.

Not that great, original series was low budget Shonen trash and Battle Planet's not even really animated by them.
Better yet, how does he know which is which, they don't seem to credit either studio for whichever short they did, just Yotta's anime sequence and Tonic's shorts.
pure guessing
Framerate, and the lack of motion blur and in-betweens, I think. Though, to be fair, the 2020 Animaniacs animation isn't as bad as other modern shows. It does take getting used to though.
Yeah
This would be clearly above average if it wasn't Animaniacs
But since it is the closest comparison is always the old show.
Yeah, I think that's a big problem. We automatically compare it to the original, which is of course, better. For modern cartoons though, it shits on a lot of them. Like She-Ra was a choppy mess (and I actually kinda like that show, but the animation really was pretty ass).
Pretty meager, I'm talking full smears with directional impact and speed lines. Emphasizing fast motions, and sudden stops, for more visceral comedic impact in the motion.
Window screen effect. When you can see less details, your mind fills in the missing information with generous assumptions.
>Most of the symbol and tween abuse come from the Titmouse episodes
Not true, it's all drawn by hand.
litter.catbox.moe
was there a guideline for smears for the animators to follow back then?
The TMS in the 90s isn’t the TMS today
and that's what I fear and adore the most because animation is so bad that the smallest fundamentals will put one ahead of the curve
what about the people who made up TMS at the time, like how Gainax is a shell of its former self because all its good employees went to work with other studios (many of which were outright founded by Gainax employees)?
Acting, timing and staging helps express character better:

Mostly to follow the motion arcs the action follows. and no more than 2 frames. and one or two to follow thru. it's supposed to move fast between keys. So the resting frames are more impactful. Like dropping an anvil.
TMS is my favorite animation studio and it's not even because of their Western work.
thank you richard williams
I got plenty more TMS but I'll stop for now.
