Yep. Like, i look back on 2008-2012 shows like Phineas & Ferb, Chowder, Flapjack, AT, Regular Show and horse show, and they're good. Not perfect, but good. Then i go to Gravity Falls and there's a clear downgrade in quality. Unfortunately, it became just as popular as those shows and it became a major influence for future cartoons

Animation is literally just a moving cartoon. Cartoon is the drawing, not the animation. The original cartoons are political cartoons.

Gravity Falls wasn't "funny", it was just all around entertaining beyond its target demographics. None of these children's cartoons are "funny" unless you have the sense of humor of a 10 year old.

The truth is, cartoons today are better than they’ve ever been, and we have AT and GF to thank for that. Lore SAVED western animation, and any show without it is rightfully seen as outdated and worthless. It’s funny how weebs criticize cartoons for not being more like anime, and then get mad when they act more like anime.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand cartoons from the 2010s to today. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of Gen Z culture most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike cartoons from the 2010s to today truly ARE idiots. Adventure Time is a fantastic show and the closest western animation has to Evangelion. GF is pure childlish mediocrity, despite being pretty to look at.
