Which I agree, would be better for studios to work on New IPs instead of digging up old ones and fitting them with neck bolts, but unfortunately all these 'new' ideas are the same fucking thing.

Gravity Falls is the worst thing to ever happen to animation and was not even a good show.

I read it as more of a stab at the trend of making nonwhite main characters not because that's just what they are, but to appeal to a bunch of social media pundits and to look progressive via getting to advertise with "REPRESENTATION".

The only show I can think of that even remotely resembles this is Owl House.

It got bought by the Wordpress people and they revived the nsfw blogs but they're still hidden from searches and can only be viewed through the tumblr dashboard that requires you being signed in. I check from time to time and there's still activity but it's definitely a ghost town in comparison to what it used to be like.

A lot of the time they are. Not always, but a lot of the time. Craig of the Creek gets its fair share of shit over being typical of 2010s trends due to the cushy and unchallenging slice of life, but it doesn't really make a big deal out of Craig and his family being black. They just are. And funny enough, you'll still see the rare shit on the creators being white meaning it's not "truly" black, or watered down to appeal to general audiences. Or, alternatively, people calling it woke pandering anyway, but I'm thinking that one's more because people are too used to it being pandering that characters just being with nothing extra on the agenda is too good to be true.
Kipo is also pretty good, but you'll see plenty of people touting the main character being Korean and some other characters being black as reasons to watch it, and they're the exact group of people I'm talking about. It's never about the actual content, it's race and identity first, content second.
