>the mc is actually a huge douchebag asshole and his enemy is actually an alright guy
The mc is actually a huge douchebag asshole and his enemy is actually an alright guy
>Abe gets too much hate for being a parody
>JFK gets put on a pedestal despite being a douche as well. Oh that's right it's because he's funny
The both have their good moments and bad moments. The only problem is that newer fans think that Abe is all bad and JFK is all good.
I think any loser MC from that era is just seen as the bad guy now
especially when you compare them to anime role models that make friends with fucking everyone
wish I had those heroes instead of being the always cynical asshole as a teen
Despite what they say, grey isn't allowed anymore, you are either pure evil or pure good, no in between.
its because we live in the diametrically positioned world where you are either a simp or a chad and all nuances are boiled down to one-note character motives.
Move over.
Ichabod and Brom from Disney's Sleepy Hollow. It's neat how subtlety the dynamic is played out, unless you pay attention to a few key lyrics and visuals it acts out like your standard nerd vs jock trope. Dupped me as a kid, caught me by surprise as an adult.
>plays the part of stereotypical misogynist jock bully through out the whole series
>says one decent thing in the final episode and is instantly redeemed
>you are either a simp or a chad and all nuances are boiled down to one-note character motives
I worry for the youth.
Ponce
Ichabod is far more crafty than Brian at the expense of being paranoid. He is far more successful at wooing women
He literally punches another kid to impress Joan. Why would anyone be ok with that.
The worst Abe ever did was say that Joan was ugly before her finale makeover, an opinion literally every character except JFK held
The show was too short for any character to have more than one trait, Abe wasn't "secretly the bad guy", he's just part of a love triangle trope that is offensive today; people no longer want to see him choose Joan over Cleopatra, they want to see Joan pick the redeemed JFK over Abe. The idea that he was the asshole stems from people desperate to hate him because he's written to be a dorky beta guy and people can't see that as anything other than the villain, and I would be utterly shocked if the reboot doesn't follow that exactly.
Its simple, himbos are in
Viren himself is kind of a dope, but dark magic is fucking awesome. It'd be ridiculous to write off the ability to save tens of thousands of lives at the expense of one dead rock monster.
It's not the youths fault its culture changing as a whole to where boomer stereotypes and tropes of the dorky lovable loser is now seen as creepy and an asshole because media now tries to be accurate instead of showing what we see as what should be happening and I'm fine with people seeing old media and seeing it in a different sense instead of one that just makes abe the golden boy and shit when that's an incredibly boring way to watch the show
I think beyond the fact that JFK is simply funnier as a character, Abe is understandably more frustrating because the biggest recurring conflict of the series is built around his obsession with the wrong girl and it only gets worse over time and slowly phases out any redeeming qualities that he had early on. JFK is a douche, but the show at least ends with him telling Joan that he likes her when she's being herself, while Abe only ever noticed her when she was dressing up and acting in a way that she hated.
Every character is a parody of bad teenage drama tropes, so it's silly to take any of it too seriously, but I can see why people got tired of the joke of Abe's character in particular.
Don't mind me, best character coming through
I think Abe is just an oblivious character whose more annoying traits are played up for laughs. I don't think you're supposed to think "good" or "bad", just idiot.
Abe's personality is basically like a cartoon version of Eric Foreman and J.D. Even though Abe matured more throughout one season than Eric and J.D. did in seven.
>Getting mad because he doesn't show interest in Joan
>As if Joan being interested obliges him to return said feelings
Get over yourselves femcels.
Yeah, you got Abe not being able to ick between Joan and Cleo and generally fucking with them and you got JFK who will fuck anything but plays no complex games besides “do you wanna fuck”
Ichabod is the closest thing to nuance portrayal you will get
>Abe clearly isn't trying to be a dick, he's just an idiot and this is played up for the sake of parody
>JFK goes out of his way to be the stereotypical jock character who bangs girls left and right simply because he can (and it was hinted that he still did it while he dated Cleo)
>People will look at this and think that Abe is 100% irredeemable and is the worst character on the show
>But then they'll look at JFK, and think that because he said something nice to Joan in the last episode (which he obviously only said so he could bang her), that he's a pure innocent cinnamon roll who can do no wrong
Why is Abe so demonized by the modern audience, yet JFK has literally NEGATIVE controversy surrounding him? I'd say that there's good enough reason to "hate" every character in Clone High, but for some reason Abe is the only one that makes people really mad.
Yeah, also why did this show begin to gain popularity recently, am I missing something?
Nobody likes simps
>The idea that he was the asshole stems from people desperate to hate him because he's written to be a dorky beta guy
I can understand why people hate him now
>and people can't see that as anything other than the villain, and I would be utterly shocked if the reboot doesn't follow that exactly.
I've always had low, low expectations for the reboot. Best case scenario is if they just did what they were originally planning and unfroze the Clones, rather than actually rebooting the whole series and "updating" it for a modern audience.
Either way, I'm not excited for it but I'll be glad if it turns out alright.
Then why do people feel bad for Joan? Shouldn't people hate her for being stupid enough to have feelings for Abe?
She’s funny
Because she has bobs and vagene and feet
Probably a combination of these factors:
>The creators have blown up like crazy the last decade (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Jump Street, Lego movies, Into Spider-verse)
>A somewhat dedicated fan base has given the show continuous attention for a while
>The show in its entirety is uploaded as one giant video on YouTube in solid quality (which has probably been amassing views from the aforementioned fan base since it was uploaded)
>It (or JFK's butt, apparently) was meme'd on Tik Tok?
>Reboot has recently been announced
>Last but not least the show is easy to get into and doesn't really feel particularly dated, even if it was made almost 20 years ago
I honestly think the YT video did a lot for it desu. It has like 7 million views right now.
