The first one is an acceptable but bloated action movie. Basically the perfect middle point in Bay's career both chronologically and in terms of quality.
The fifth one is just someone fucking around with tens of millions of dollars of studio money, throwing every nonsense idea they have at the screen. It's an awful film, but I respect the balls behind it.

First was great, and honest effort to do something daring
Second was good, didn’t quite have the magic of the first but still had redeeming factors. Also appreciate the balls to use racist caricatures
After that though it started falling apart. No it fell into the rut of being expected to crank out a movie every 2 years or so and that hurt the quality. Shia and Megan Fox sucked, but they were still the human face of the series and losing them hurt
