im sure he just thought it was funny that he was depicted as a crazy old asshole than what he actually looked like.
that entire episode was full of references though and wikipedia claims its a Patton one

it took me years to actually look up a groening picture so for a while i though that was actually a bit of an exaggeration on what he looked like
