From what I've seen it's usually done when they're trying to chase a mainstream sfw career and they want to use their old stuff as a portfolio without the nsfw baggage.

as an artistfag who draws lewds and has comics of OCs nobody gives a shit about, I personally find it more creatively satisfying to finish up a project with my OC than it is to draw something for my dick.

If someone stuck a gun to my head and forced me to draw exclusively one or the other for the rest of my life I'd choose the OCs, even if it gets me zero attention.

He apparently still draws lewds, but only shares them with people he allows to follow him on a specific twitter made for that purpose.
And to me that just seems... odd. I mean, I'VE drawn some degenerate shit that makes me hope I get the chance to run a super magnet over my hard drives before I die, but he apparently IS sharing stuff with some people, on twitter no less, so it can't be something that'd make him want to kill himself out of shame. And it's not like it's hard to find his porn from the past by throwing his username in any number of boorus, so it's not as though a scorched-earth policy is going to protect him professionally (nor does anyone in the industry ACTUALLY care unless you've been drawing kids being diddled).

Personally it's no big loss to me. I loved his lewds, but there's been a surge of cartoony smut artists in the past 5 years such that I'm not left without options. And I actually like Priscilla but mostly Selena so I don't mind him focusing on her and Kip. But I'd be lying if I said his on-and-off aversion to drawing porn wasn't confusing.
