I remember getting confused trying to figure out how long it was between V3 and 4, because I couldn't understand how Blake would notice Sun following her for months on end, or Weiss sitting in her room doing nothing at all.
There's too many plotholes to to be uncovered here. But "RWBY had months to talk to Ironwood" has got to be the worst one.

This was the books' writer. However, it's not like he works alone. They probably all agreed to the timeline not realizing how it made things look. No wonder they thought RWBY could beat the Ace Ops. They had been level grinding for literal months.
