Was watching this cartoon with my boomer dad and its legit good, why did this get forgotten while shit like scooby doo ran for 50+ years, and why cant we have action cartoons like this for boys these days
Was watching this cartoon with my boomer dad and its legit good...
The reboot (or was it a sequel?) from the 90's was also surprisingly good
Jonny Quest walked so the Venture Bros. could run.
It was pretty revolutionary for the time. I don't think there was as good an "action/adventure" show on TV until G.I. Joe in the 1980's.
>why did this get forgotten
Parents in the 1960's where complained to the network about the violence.
>why cant we have action cartoons like this for boys these days
Complicated question.
>See Hajji
>Make some assumptions about "Oh here we go, old timey racism"
>Watch the old show
>Haji is treated as a total equal with Johnny
>He clever, resourceful
>Most of the times he does something stereotypical it's actually mocking westerners assumptions about the middle east/india
Hanna-Barbera properties will never get a proper reboot with the feel of the originals. Either they will permanently be stuck and repettifor kids (Tom and Jerry, Flintstones) or rebooted and take the piss out of the original (Bird Man,Space Ghost). In the case of Jonny Quest, it already had both through the Tom and Jerry crossover and through Venture Bros. If there ever will be a reboot of this property, it will probably be like the Scooby-Doo movies and be totally "This isn't your dad's Jonny Quest".
More like
>why did this get forgotten
Parents in the 1960's where complained to the network about the violence.
>why cant we have action cartoons like this for boys these days
Childless white women would complain to the network about the violence.
The reboot was fine, but still I think it's not as good as the original series...
Specially because of the 3d segments, that might have been impressive for the time, but nowadays looks really out of place.
globalism means there are no wild unexplored places on earth to have adventures and get menaced by ethnic stereotypes in.
Eh people are still ignorant about the world and a show exploring different parts would be fine.
>>why cant we have action cartoons like this for boys these days
Because fuck men(not literally of course)
>"Oh here we go, old timey racism"
That made me kek
ironically venture bros hadji was more racist
>why cant we have action cartoons like this for boys these days
That's a really good question. If I ever have young boys I'll have to show them old movies and series so that they can enjoy products aimed at them and have inspiring role models. There's nothing for them on television anymore.
And this isn't even a recent problem. I recently rewatched The Lion King and Simba is a HORRIBLE role model for young boys: he is always defeated, he is always bossed around or manipulated, he is never in charge of his life, he never improves...
Would it be considered that violent? Now a days violence gets a pass while sexualization either gets complained or a pass depending on the bullshit arbitrary perceptions.
The complains might be lack of diversity in the cast if they dont add Races Daughter again or if they go too hard on Haiji being a curry nigger.
I'm SO sorry for young boys today...
>Childless white women would complain to the network about the violence.
>Because fuck men(not literally of course)
Unironically fuck white women, i cant wait till they all die alone while hot mexican cuties flood the country to replace them
Give it 5 more years, then we’ll start seeing trans teen romance in cartoons. Mainly women since being a cunt is a mental illness
I think Secret Saturday is the most recent cartoon I watched that gave me a similar "feel" to the old Jonny Quest cartoons.
Exactly why I'm collecting old shows to prevent my future offspring from degeneracy.
Because race bannon entered politics
>why did this get forgotten
It wasn't really forgotten. The 80's revival and Real Adventures helped keep it relevant for a while.
A lot of people point to PC shit as why pulp has died out but I think Pseudo Intellectuals are more so responsible, writers don't give us any fun wish fulfillment since it doesn't make them look deep.Just look at James Bonds, the old films were about wacky adventures, stopping mad men and fucking chicks but now they focus on how much of a mentally damaged fuck up Bond is
Brown lesbians everywhere.
Oh hey. Mike Pence was in a cartoon?
I really don't wanna bring up the whole soul vs soulless thing, but i think you're right in that soul is fun wish fulfillment without being pretentious, whereas soulless is the new cynical reboot where all the fun goes out the window so the writers can win awards
Hot take but Venture Bros. "ironic" racism got tiring after a while. I don't think there's a single brown character who doesn't have their race played for laughs to some degree.
Based
On what?
>"ironic" racism
Post some examples.
Boys watch anime instead so there's nothing to worry about.
It is kind of funny because I remember them making a huge deal about the 3D at the time. As a kid it was really cool but obviously it doesn't hold up after nearly 30 years of progress. The show still has some of the darkest moments I've ever seen in a kid's show though. The piranhas episode gave me nightmares for a week.
