Pretty straightforward, they're like your japanese mangas but obviously better
So they're fighting, porn, child porn and borderline child porn?
Nobody actually reads comics. There's just too many of them.
What are you looking for?
Guy Delisle, Joe Stacco, and Daniel Clowes are the most redpilled comics creators these days. Also Art Spiegelman, obviously.

All-Star Superman is capeshitkino, so read that
Just shit thats good. I'm into most things so genre doest matter much but im especially into edgy shit, horror and action shit if that helps.
Read the classic Donald Duck comics by Carl Barks, it was the inspiration for the early modern day manga
"Western" comics are broad as hell, there's comics from the US, South America, Europe, and elsewhere that isn't East Asia. There's mainstream (cape basically) and indies/alt/underground, where the real good shit is.
What genres do you like? There's a ton of options for everything. If you can't decide on any one story stick around for a storytime thread and jump in if you like the cover.
If you want to transition a bit from manga to comics, try Usagi Yojimbo, a long-running comic series about an anthro rabbit ronin in an anthro world based off of feudal Japan that takes inspiration from popular samurai media and is made by an American-Japanese. It's really fucking good.
>inspired by manga
I dont just want jap shit from burgerland or where ever, i want burgerland shit from burgerland
He said that it INSPIRED manga, not that it was inspired BY manga
Read Sandman by Neil Gaiman. It's all downhill after that.
none of those, but based on reality: Weapons of Mass Diplomacy (Quai d'Orsay #1-2) by Abel Lanzac
My tastes are broad as hell too. Im especially into anything edgy/gorey though.
Well then here are some recommendations
>Watchmen
>Unbelievable Gwenpool
>Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E
>Shirtless Bear Fighter
>I Hate Fairyland
>Weapon Brown
>Spidey (2015)
>Madman
>Flaming Carrot
>Axe Cop
>Dr. Mcninja
Those are some comics that I really love. If you like what you see then I can give you more recommendations.
Blast then
>Edgy shit
Can't go wrong with Garth Ennis' stuff.
>Horror
EC comics has a massive library of old (but good) horror comics. Hope you enjoy reading though, because they are wordy as hell.
If you want more psychological horror there's some good French things like Kerascoet's works (Beauty, Beautiful Darkness) and The Blast.
>Action
Too many to list. Try Savage Sword of Conan as a starter and spring from there. If you want edgy and action and godly artwork, try Requiem Vampire Knight, another French work.
You'll want to look into Garth Ennis then. He's probably the most prolific edgelord in comics. Quality ranges from great to pure garbage though. Preacher and his Punisher MAX run are generally considered his best works.
>Preacher and his Punisher MAX run are generally considered his best works.
Oh, and Hitman. That's another great one of his.
OP, I echo what says (and second those recs too) I'd need more idea on what kind of story/long form/short/serialised/one-shot/stand-alone/multiverse/slice of life/scifi/surreal etc. Having said that I'd recomend The Prophet series starting from number 21, guide in pic related.
>Requiem Vampire Knight
Is it worth it?
It is good, but volumes have had problems with steep prices for years. Pirate it first to see if you like it before shelling out, it's up on readcomiconline.
>multiple Millar comics
That list is not to be trusted.
There's a thread up for a legendary comic artist who recently passed away that hits all your tastes. Check out his thread for some god-tier artwork and nice stories.
Are there any western indie comics that AREN'T edgy and/or violent
I think it's a pretty good list otherwise
Yes
