Do you think Shrek would be as memorable if Chris Farley got to finish his role as him?

Not if they stuck with the live action shit.
The movie was supossed to be a little more serious and had Shrek parents on it, they had to rewrite everything because Mike wanted to add more jokes into the movie and they ahd to redo most of the animation, They say Chris recorded 90% so he did everything but the ending only for it to get lost forever.
Eh, he doesn't sell the emotional part of this scene as well as Myers does.

Reminder that after Shrek came out, Dreamworks cancelled not 1, but 2 films that were already in production for quite a while ( Tusker and Truckers ) because they knew that making a safe Shrek sequel would be more profitable. Honestly, screw Shrek 2
>June 2001 : Andrew Adamson ( Shrek 1 director ) is working on a new project with a very good story
>Shrek becomes an even bigger hit than anyone expected and wins the academy award
>Katzenberg becomes a greedy and cocky fuck, cancels the project and tells Adamson to make a quick Shrek sequel in less than 3 years instead

He has a more generic angle. I just hear a suburban American guy who could be anything, the crappy heavy Scottish gave this yokel gruff feel to it.
It helps the material he has, a lot more small implications. Talking about the stars showed a few angles there, Shrek isn't an idiot, he does like a laugh, he wants to share these things but even with pushing is currently unable to truly open up. He can't actually say what he wants yet instead talking about how others treat him. Basic little things can add a lot of character rather than I want X and Y but Z.
I feel sorry for John H. Williams. He was one of the 3 producers behind Shrek. After the movie became a hit, Williams founded his own animation studio in 2002, Vanguard, in order to keep working on animation. Unfortunately, all of the films he produced at Vanguard were embarassing failures. He spent the rest of his life trying to replicate his success with Shrek and failing every time
In that artstyle? HELL YES!!!
Fuck no.
Especially in that part of his career. I love Chris but it wouldn't be nearly as good. Meyers did a perfect job.
>From the producer of Shrek
And he keeps trying to this very day. This film came out in 2018 and it was also a box office failure. At this point, Williams should just give up. He will never replicate that one success he had in 2001
No
Shrek 2 was great though.
Doesn't hold a candle to Shrek 1
Fuck off shartfag
>Shrek 1 writers : Aladdin, Mask of El Zorro, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc
>Shrek 2 writers : Rugrats films, Jimmy Neutron film, some terrible mid 00s live action comedies, etc
S1 is better. Cope
Fuck off, retard
those 2D renditions of shrek were much less unpleasant to look at than what we got anyway.
Shrek 2 is a despicable piece of animation. I pity the kids who grew up watching this empty, shallow and crass garbage. Thankfully i wasn't one of them
the real question is would we still have gotten the Shrek is love Shrek is life memes
It's better than the original.
Whatever goodwill Dreamworks obtained from the public with Shrek was lost forever after Shrek 2. People never looked at them the same way after that film. It was cynical as fuck, full of inappropiate stuff and lacking any semblance of charm or innocence. Shrek 2 was cultural damage for the animation medium in the west
Go watch your stupid shart tale piece of shit, you friendless autist.
Nah Austin Powers(Mike Meyers) is more rmemorable especially with the fat bastard voice
At the end of the day it works like this.
>Financial Success
Shrek 2. Holy fuck was it successful and it refused to leave the local theaters in my local area. It must have been in theaters for 5 months.
>Artistic Sucess
Shrek 1, no hands down. Much more compelling story and less of the stupid pop-culture Nickelodeon-style humor that would forever turn Shrek into a fucking meme.
Also, people forget this, but if you think about it, Shrek was originally a satire. It was a spoof of overdone Disney fairytales about beautiful Princesses and Princes and big ugly villains. See Dreamworks was originally created by Jeffrey Katzenberg, an ex-Disney executive, who due to fighting between him and Micheal Isner, quit Disney to create Dreamworks. Dreamworks was built out of spite, with JK taking many Disney animators with him and allegedly stealing the idea of Bug's Life from Lasseter and Steve Jobs. Shrek was part of this with the movie beginning with Shrek taking a Disney-style fairytale book, ripping its happy ending, and wiping his ass with it, also the Prince in the movie is supposed to be Mike Isner as well. Shrek was a spoof and a satire no different than DW's other satire, ANTZ. The later films lost this and ironically become as overdone and bloated and the Disney fairytale films Shrek once mocked.
Cry about it
Yeah, reminds me of the horse show and how it started off going against the formula, making something actually fun and creative and interesting despite its source material....and then once it got popular, its owners twisted it right back around into more of the same bullshit that the executive director was trying to steer away from.
Pretty much. Whenever i watch Antz and Shrek, and then i go watch Shrek 2, there's a clear difference. S2 doesn't even feel like it came from the same company. They changed a lot after 2001 ( for the worse )
Yet Shrek 2 becoming a huge financial success ( the highest grossing animation film ever at the time ) had a terrible effect in the animation industry. Haven't you noticed how, starting in 2005, both western animation films and shows started to get severely worse ? I'm not joking when i say Shrek 2 is the sole responsible for everything going to shit in the mid and late 00s ( with only a few exceptions ). It took Pendleton Ward's genius and sincerity to undo the damage caused by S2
Eat shit, shart tale retard
Shrek was, unfortunately, the beginning of the end of an era for Dreamworks Before and during Shrek's run, Dreamworks made movies with violence, sexual innuendos, and swearing. After Shrek 2's success, they began making dumb 3D comedies with more pop culture references and shitty jokes. Another reason why I hate Shrek 2
