Simply the best comic book movie of all time.
Simply the best comic book movie of all time
It's a good movie but lets not get carried away now
Better Spiderman movie than MCU spiderman.
Alright, fine, it's the best since Raimi Spider Man.
MCU kiddie shit , thank god Snyder will cancel his sequel and we are going back to the amazing realist universe
While enjoyable and probably doesn't get the respect it deserves, there are a few problems with it. For example there's sort of a disconnect between Billy Batson and his heroic form Shazam. By that I mean it doesn't exactly translate that they're supposed to be the same person. But then again you could argue that while walking around as Shazam, Billy's buried optimism and upbeat qualities are pulled out. It's just a little jarring because every time we see Billy in his mortal form, he's ALWAYS a grumpy teen. Which I get because he was handed a shitty life and all he wanted was his mom/family back, but you kind of need to see upbeat Billy too after the fact.
Also this is just a nitpick from a fanboy perspective, but I wish Doctor Sivana was a bit more, well, doctor. Having the Seven Deadly Sins juice him up is fine, but you really need to see more of his mad genius. Otherwise all it really feels like is a low rent Black Adam fighting Billy for the movie.
In the original comics they were different persons
But that's clearly not what's happening here, so what's your point?
thisnot only is that not the case now, its not the case in the source comic the movie hits beat for beat
It's not even good
No, sweetie you dont understand.
Snyder will create the SOURCE with his JL movie, and since shazam is red and already have successful movie, he probably become one of the main character in dcu
villain's motive was so petty and lame it kinda undermines him as a threat for the duration of the movie for me.
also the sub plot of Billy getting over his old parents and embracing his new family kinda feels distant from the events of the main plot.
I mean, for me, the Shazam business didn't seem to have to do with anything with the family, aside from the villain attacking them. Which is idk, kinda superficial connection if you ask me.
But I wasn't really paying attention, so maybe I was missing some stuff.
>villain's motive was so petty and lame it kinda undermines him as a threat for the duration of the movie for me.
Eh, he was an asshole and Shazam made him believe that he would never be able to be a good person anway.
Is most about breaking this message that people are born saints and monsters and stop waiting for some naturaly awesome person to fix everything, we are all able to make a choice and we can choose to be a hero even if we are not perfect, we can overcame our flaws and be a worthy person.
This is either a falseflag or shitty sarcasm. Snyder said he don't want other DC directors copying his style nor is interested on being "DC Feige"
That’s not Ang Lee Hulk
he could have at least have more fuel behind his actions than just "magic old man was mean to me so I got butthurt until I was a grown ass adult."
It's laughably petty to say the least.
you watched that video too huh?
the Seven Deadly Sins redesigns were generic as hell least they could do is have them bust out of the classic statues
He ruined Christmas and his dad got permacrippled.
It was more than just hurt feelings.
>It was more than just hurt feelings.
It was literally all about his feelings getting hurty though.
It's not like he has some higher calling for ultimate power even.
Once he gets his powers what does he do? go get revenge on his dad who was a meanie to him.
lmao
he really needed the fucking 7 deadly sins to get back at his old, crippled daddy?
I could have done that with a fucking gun and a bullet.
Shit, I could have done it with my bare hands. Just roll the wheelchair out the window. what the fuck is he going to do? run away?
>It was literally all about his feelings getting hurty though.
It was more about him giving up being good because of Shazam words.
he really needed the fucking 7 deadly sins to get back at his old, crippled daddy?
Without them he would be arrested, with them he can do anything he want.
well he didn't seem to be that concerned with murder when he killed the scientist chick before.
And even if that were the case,
it just makes him more pathetic.
I'm really supposed to any threatening presence from this overgrown kid having a tantrum after he gets power?
who doesn't even have the backbone to face the consequences and afraid of jail?
I guess it can make for an interesting villain, but I don't think the movie really focuses on that to really develop it. What I got was just.. idk, a manchild
>well he didn't seem to be that concerned with murder when he killed the scientist chick before.
That was an accident.
>it just makes him more pathetic.
Yes he was pathetic, he allowed himself to be influenced by others and gave up morality, Billy in the other hand choose to be a good person and overcame his greed and frustrations.
yeah, I guess I see it now.
Manchild vs Manchild
kinda poetic.
I guess I just didn't like it in execution.
He wasn't that threatening even in the scenes where he was supposed to be, because I already knew how pathetic he was.
I just saw a guy having a child tantrum.
Billy is a literal teenager
>It was literally all about his feelings getting hurty though.
Initially, yes. But when he freaked out in the car, and his dad gave him shit and ended up crashing, getting crippled, and then blamed all of it on him? It stopped being just about his feelings being hurt, it became "if it wasn't for that asshole wizard who said I wasn't good enough, I wouldn't have had my life ruined". Major grudge.
WW84 is confirmed capekino
One thing I found weird was the color grading. It was promoted as "The DCEU movie with none of the Snyder baggage" yet the color grading is worse than an MCU Phase 2 movie.
>complete 180 to the 2017 film
But didn't the 2017 film receive nothing but praise?
Yeah but she means a 180 in terms of tone. It's a colorful fun silly movie while the first one was more of a serious war film
You see a little of upbeat Billy when he outsmart the cops to get the address of the person he thinks is his mom.
But I agree, they could have done more to show they are the same person.
>Complete 180 from 2017 film.
So its bad until the last 10 minutes?
based and red whiz pilled
>Billy lost his mother
>Sivana felt like he lost opportunity/respect
>Billy kept running away from homes
>Sivana kept trying to get back at the Wizard
>Billy finds his mother and isn't satisfied
>Sivana gets back and isn't satisfied
>Billy learns to let go and move on
>Sivana doesn't and needs to continue to prove himself
It could have been done better, but I liked the parallels of obsession.
Should be based and Big Red Cheese pilled?
