>implying this hasn't already happened and I'm the only sentient digital being and everyone else are just NPCs.
wake up.

>art style looks like cartoon style
>therefore it must be Zig Forums

I'm so sick of faggots like OP trying to throw people who don't spergs like Zig Forums on simply normal channels like these guys. Fuck off.

After their vegan propaganda video I'm wary of anything they upload

go fetch me 10 ears from the goblins in the local dungeon

I use to be a [inset job occupation group here] too, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

This looks like a title card for an episode of fucking Adventure Time.

Why are these singularity videos so cringey?

>You are just a program thinking that you are alive

If you feel it to be real, it doesnt make any difference.

I'm stick of redditors like yourself who bitch about shit that isn't a wojak or pepe shitpost. You'll never pass, so kill yourself.

I am sick of gook not making a celebrety and youtube board to move everything there.

Imagine trolling people that were born centuries before you in cyberspace.

We must save my family!

Because atheist nerds can't cope with death so they obsess over the singularity utopia like it was heaven

Heaven and a singularity utopia are basically the same thing in terms of humanity's attempt to cope with the fear of death. It's what keeps us functioning human beings during the waking hours.

Nah that only works with arcane magic
You can't upload your conscious to a machine and leave your brain behind, but you can make a copy

>vegan propaganda
Is that for anything that tells you to eat less meat?

>feat Cyberpunk 2077

It's like a virtual homunculus

It's not even that.
I'm an Atheist, I favor science.
But every single Kurzgesagt video on their channel is Technophile creepy sci-fi larping bullshit, laced with creepy obsessions about death and paranoia and ego-jerking about colonizing space or becoming star-faring futuristic gods and shit. There's a difference between approving of science and worshiping it/fetishizing it like some kind of divine mission. Muh Singularity and Transhumans freaks and all the fantasy-worshipping drama queens.

>MUH WE HAVE TO DEFEAT DEATH BECAUSE IF WE DON’T THEN WE’VE BEEN COMMITTING OMNICIDE
Cringe. God has already defeated Death. John 3:16.

Is it so bad to have a sense of purpose? To want Manifest Destiny in Space™? To want to make the forces of nature our bitch? Is it a bit of hubris? Sure. But it beats waiting until we go extinct or the Sun turns into a red giant and swallows us.

I just want to be a walking jet bros. Or a helicopter, that’d be cool too.

Same with CPGrey. He dedicated a bunch of episodes to longevity technology and got weirdly defensive about how if you said he was projecting his fears or pointed out concerns or flaws in the reasoning then you were pro-death

>sense of purpose
It's pretty lame and creepy if your purpose is this
>To want Manifest Destiny in Space™
Manifest Destiny in general is a shitty fetishistic concept. None of us will obviously live to see see humanity become Star Trek, so jerking off over the idea while going "Experts saaaay" in faux informational propaganda videos is just obnoxious. There are more important pressing issues today as we face modern problems, there are people suffering from drugs, alcohol, poverty and all those assholes care about is 'MUH SPACE'.

The solution to poverty and the capacity to deal with issues such as climate change lie in space. Mine asteroids and build solar collectors to provide clean energy.

>The solution to poverty and the capacity to deal with issues such as climate change lie in space. Mine asteroids and build solar collectors to provide clean energy.
Those aren't realistic goals for civilization right now. We can barely become dependent on solar power on EARTH that's sustainable for our current governments and economy, how do you expect we going to startup enough infrastructure on meteors? If your solution to poverty is just "Mine asteroids", you'll have to admit there's no notion of that right now that doesn't just end with a mining MegaCorp becoming insanely rich while leaving the poor in the dust.

It will never happen. We both know how autistic anons can get if their obsessions are allowed to fester. Any eceleb board would quickly become a stalking general magnet, which would become Kiwi farms on steroids. You might as well ask for /i/

>It's pretty lame and creepy if your purpose is this
What's the alternative? On your knees to please some omnipotent being that judges every action you take hoping to get into some heavenly paradise?
Space is cool.

>physicalism
A pretty safe assumption, and one that would ideally be falsifiable via our attempts to simulate the brain.
>scanability
A much trickier assumption, but given the efficacy of the slice example it at least seems theoretically possible if not socially/economically feasible
>computability
This seems tied to physicalism. I would argue that accepting or testing physicalism would require assuming that with the right architecture the brain could be accurately emulated.

But really I think the question is a bit more fundamental and even a bit semantic. Can you upload your consciousness? Can you live forever? No! You can feasibly make a copy, a copy so real that it has all your memories and feels that it is you, but it is not you. It is a copy. The continuously running software that makes up "you" has ended and the hardware it was running on has been destroyed. Soma is a game that makes a big deal of this revelation but to be honest I kind of thought that was the idea the whole time.

I have no doubt that humanity's capacity for science and innovation could provide any number of technically possible solutions to many of our problems, but implementing these solutions requires a sociological evolution we've yet to experience.

Help your neighbor. Read a book. Feed the poor, try to fix the society first. Who knows, science will advance someday and we may push our descendants a thousand years from now to expand further into the stars. But they won't have a future if the planet and mankind is clearly fucked into the stone age by disease, poverty and war before then. If scientists want to peer into the stars that's their business, but if you want to dismantle everyone's lives to become crypto-space fascist or veer towards the dark side than that needs to stop.
I'm not a religious man but space age wank, biotech and cyborg larpers aren't living with the times, they're basically Furries and Star Trek cosplayers having made it into a life philosophy.

Your brain is already an organic simulation. You're not real. When you go to sleep, you die. Your brain does maintenance and reboots up a new consciousness that has all your memories and information. How is a computer any different?

Psychic continuity is a joke.

Really, the only way I could see transfering my mind to a digital "realm" would to make sturdier versions of my cells, inject them, and let them replicate like any cell in my body. Then later when my brain is a good percentage made of stronger stuff have those cells replaced slowly by replicating nanites. (The new cells should be able to interact with the nanites, and said nanites be able to interface with super/giga/uber computers).

That way it'd just feel like I'm going through advanced puberty.
