Wander Over Yonder

The series is currently streaming on Hulu so I was thinking we could have a discussion/nostalgia thread for it?
It's a shame this show was ignored until too late.

This show sucked. Even Owl House is better

Heres your (You)

I liked it until Lord Dominator was introduced. She threw off the balance of the show.

It's rare for a modern cartoon to not try to be dark and have a deep, overarching plot. This was just a simple, episodic show about someone who likes to help people, and it managed to be really funny and very comfy.
(Of course, overarching stories aren't bad, but it's nice to have a change of pace, and a lot of shows would be better served as episodic)

Ok, correct me if I'm wrong, but: Wasn't Lord Hater supposed to be revealed as a monkey or something later on in the series? Like he was a failed experiment on a monkey or something. I think it was even hinted at in the last episode.

Interesting, usually the opinion is reversed in that people usually don't like season 1 as much as 2 (personally I like both, Dominator seemed more as a tool to help develop Wander & Hater than an actual character)
Ironically Wander probably would've been one of the deepest lore 2010 shows had Craig had his original vision.

I think this image explains some of it

>Of course, overarching stories aren't bad
They aren't, it's just that most of them are done in a very slapdash manner.

Pretty much one of the biggest reasons why I enjoyed it so much. Even if it was originally supposed to be serialized, its episodic "jump in anywhere" nature was such a breath of fresh air between everything trying to be the next massive lorefag show.
Also screw Disney for not just putting it on Disney+, leaving it to rot in a streaming service that isn't available globally instead. At first I thought it was all just unfortunate coincidences but legit what is their fucking beef with this show?

we know the other cool thing is that spaceship which would be Wander's new traveling cruise.
What surprises me is Haters photo with a monkey. This implies Hater was like that back when he was on Earth, but wouldn't the accident lead to him becoming a skeleton man?

I'm glad it's at least available somewhere, for the longest time all you had was services like Amazon or the shitty Disney Now app (which I heard doesn't even have the entire show??)

Another thing I forgot to mention is the show barely ever got reruns on TV which annoys me to no end because I believe Disney preferred just rerunning the show over ordering new episodes but... Rarely ever did.

Never forget that Peepers is a Watchlet.

Seethe

This. Every cartoon nowadays just HAS to have an overarching plot, no matter the cost.

Reminder that in 3 months it will be 5 years since the cancellation was announced.

Watch your mouth, faggot.

>5 years
I'm still mad

Same, user, same. rewatching the show has filled me with a mixture of nostalgia and frustration towards Disney.

>McGee
Never gets old.

The only thing I knew this show from was for the Lord Dominator porn

I think you're in the majority, sadly.

Can you elaborate on Craig's original vision?

Fuck you.

I was sad, i got into it as after my fair hatey which meant it was basically over at this point.

I feel ya, I first watched the show when The Picnic premiered but I admittedly fell off of it when it was moved to Disney XD and only got back on after My Fair Hatey came out.

The thing that anger me the most is that the creator, as far as I can tell want to make a show HE wanted to make and gave zero fucks to what other said.

Disney would of course rather have the same stuff that they know works (except when it doesn't) in this case an over arching plot.
