Given that the ANAD X-Men were essentially unused Legion characters (plus Ferro Comrade and Apache Boy) I wouldn't be surprised.

You joke, but legit, the lady Legionnaires tend to be more interesting characters than the gents, and get a lot of really good storylines. Not really sure why, it just ends up working out that way. That's what makes it extra stupid that the gals were downplayed in the show's second season.

IIRC that was a Cockrum design, it persisted where others were not quite as successful. Nobody seems to know what to do with poor Colossal Boy, for instance...

Not going to lie, I like this "cut-out" element that have lingered in Phantom Girl designs ever since, even the full-body suits often incorporate black-white elements that draw upon the cut-outs. Having said that, I'm also a fan of the full-body costumes inspired from her original costume, and heaven knowns they can be portrayed well at the hands of talented artists.

It was a joke, but not so many female legionaires are that prominent. I would say it is 50/50.

Gim is a character who suffers from, and I hate to say it, redundancy. Salu already does the size changing thing, but she's just a better defined character.

I'm fond of her Retroboot outfit. I think the cut-out thing is possibly evocative of her phasing powers.

Another character aspect I always liked, that Tinya and Tasmia were friends. Because in some ways they were quite similar, drawn to the alpha males and tough enough that standing in those shadows did not diminish them.

Tasmia came from a slightly different mindset, she thought more along the lines like a Klingon warrior woman where Tinya was more like a 1970s liberated feminist cranked up to 11 (unlike the modern sex-negative feminists). But there was enough personality trait overlap that they found a common ground while dealing with their silver-age-kryptonian-level partners Mon-El/Ultra Boy. Or in this specific case where Tasmia was hooking up with another alpha, Earth Man.
