and then they were so shit it got cancelled lmao
bob camp is a wonderful guy, but the fact twitter people and cartoon youtubers nowadays attribute him and the team to the "better aspects" of ren and stimpy are absolute retards.
>but muh adult party cartoon shows john isn't funny on his own
john wrote mostly every season 1-2 era ren and stimpy episode, the problem with adult party cartoon is he didn't have any censors, he was allowed to do whatever he wanted and that unfortunately does not work well for someone like him.
compare son of stimpy to a scooter for yaksmas and you'll see the difference. billy's voice as stimpy isn't even right anymore without john's voice direction.
They got him I guess
APC was what the executives asked for. That's why it was called "Adult Party Cartoon" instead of something like More Ren & Stimpy
His Adult Swim & web cartoons are a better example of what he likes to make.
After three seasons, Kids shows have a limited lifespan
Cope
Could've been worse
This. I've seen so many people act like John wasn't important to R&S at all but you can literally fucking tell by comparing s1-2 era to s3-4 era.
Season 3 was pretty good still, partially because it was using old episode ideas started at Spumco. There was a noticeable drop in quality in seasons 4 and 5, though I still enjoy them.
It had a full length run. Rugrats initially ended after just as many episodes.
>rightfully fired
What did he do?
He didn't meet deadlines and was rude to nickelodeon jew higher ups.
Rugrats wasn't nearly as popular or good.
Apparently this Twitter user takes the side of executives - they used to call 'em brownnosers but Twitter is full of them so users tend to avoid making them mad.
Looking if that story was real I found about the "Reverend Jack" episode
Anthony here yet?
>Rugrats wasn't nearly as popular
Sure...
"logo"
why do you believe what you read on social media, slave? Also why aren't you moving those parcels, it's way past your pause of the week.
It wasn't back when they both first aired.
>"The show came to garner high ratings for Nickelodeon,[11][16][17][37][57] having double the viewership of the other Nickelodeon cartoons for its first season[53] and later averaging three times their viewership."

Also, no one seems to consider the fact that John is not the same person for decades of his life. He was young, ambitious, and in his prime during the first couple of seasons of Ren & Stimpy. According to Katie and Robin, he was downing steroids like they were candy but considering how people remember John fondly BEFORE Ren & Stimpy, I'm going to guess that the stress got to him and he turned to drug abuse. Probably did it to stay awake and give him energy assuming all those "he would work 24/7 stories" were true.
By the time APC came out, he had gone through a very abusive pill-popping phase. He was also surrounded by yes-men that hailed him as a cartoon god and let him do anything rather than cartoonists who were colleagues that used to challenge him and understand him. When you read his blog throughout the 2000's, it's obvious he's still passionate about cartoon theory, but he doesn't seem to have the creative mind or the right talented team to help make his visions come true anymore. That doesn't mean he deserves one, but people comparing "John in his prime" to "Cans Without Labels John" act like there aren't decades of life between them.
There he is
>trying to identify anons in John K threads because he makes you that mad
lmao. Go back to celebrating Rebecca Sugar as CN makes her masturbatory boy fantasies
Nah. That doesn't sound like guy.
>Say something objective about John K
>"MUST BE SOME NAMEFAG"
This is like TMS threads all over again where I can't even utter the phrase, "TMS animation was very good" without getting accused of being the TMSFag.
I think it's just morso disbelief how someone as deranged and inept as John K. managed to make 2 whole seasons of decent television.
It's not just the fact he made Adult Party afterwards, it's the fact immediately after, all of his skills degraded. For a man that is infamously critical on art, all his artwork and animations only got worse overtime and he can't make a single good joke to save his life.
"John K wasn't even that important to the quality" is a wildly popular coping mindset that people made up after they discovered that the man who made their funny cartoons wasn't the greatest person, and after the whole grooming thing its popularity increased by tenfold to the point where if Bob Camp says the R&S reboot is cancelled, people actually buy it without even knowing if he's involved or not. It's weird as fuck honestly, I don't need to like a guy in order to like his work, that's why I follow Doug TenNapel and Luke Weber despite them constantly getting into petty internet slapfights
It's not that you said something "objective" about John K.
It's that you're sympathizing with him (subjective stance) as well as admitting you read his blog and agree with it (subjective stance), regardless if he "doesn't have it anymore".
"inept," yet without him you would still be watching Filmation quality cartoons, but made somewhat better.
He trained Bruce Timm, so you wouldn't even have good action cartoons without the OG.
>it's the fact immediately after, all of his skills degraded.
You're delusional. APC was more advanced than the original when it comes to drawing.
>For a man that is infamously critical on art,
His criticism seems mild now. Most of the cartoons he critiqued aren't remembered or are minor entries in the catalogs of the big studios. It's not like knowing that She-Ra is badly drawn will make you capable of a good She-Ra reboot.
It was funny accusing people of being TMS though.
The best people from the "yes-men" club were Vincent Waller and Jim Smith. Though I have my doubts about how much they were yes-men, I'd say they were loyal to John, but still went on to work with other people. Vincent has worked wih Bob Camp and Jim Smith moved onto other projects. Also pretty much everyone from early Spumco had crazy fucking talent, that was a dream team of cartoon artists.
I'm not denying his influence but you have to be the delusional one to think he still got it. All art and animations he's done this entire decade is ugly as sin and Can's Without Labels was an embarrassing failure in every regard.
I apologize and take it back. He's still autistic enough to use his name
Hi Anthony
>It's that you're sympathizing with him
It's objective that he was popping pills, that he was a workaholic, and that his workaholic behavior most likely turned him to drugs. I didn't say the poor guy never had a chance because Nick asked too much of him or that people are bullying him during his drug abuse days, all I said is that they happened and tried to guess at what point the drug abuse might've happened based on how people speak about John throughout interviews and at what point in his career. If anything, I said:
>That doesn't mean he deserves one
>admitting you read his blog
Many people read his blog back in the day. This isn't a surprise. Even the creators of Owl House, OK KO, and Steven Universe used to read it.
>agree with it
I never said that, I said he's passionate about cartoon theory. I don't have to agree with his cartoon theory to realize he's at least passionate about the idea of it.
His spongebob ren and stimpy short that was originally supposed to play at sponge out of water was pretty good.
Me Damn the thread updating after I hit "submit".
It's cool. It happens.
mate "ugly" is a subjective judgment, art skills like construction and expression are objective. This just sounds like you don't want to like him so you have your blinders on, as is very common when it comes to John K.
I consider almost every cartoon on TV ugly like Bojack Horseman or The Fungies, but i don't expect anybody who watches them to be impressed by saying "it's ugly!"
The whole anti johnk K thrad thing is a sect behaviour, you aren't supposed to not repeat the play they want word for word.
