Wait a minute... so in X-Men there are collars and devices that can nullify mutant powers, doesn't that completely invalidate a lot of mutants issues with being harmful freaks? Why doesn't Rogue just always have one of these on? She could touch anyone she wants to. What happens if you give it to someone with a mutant based deformity like Beast, would his hands and feet turn back to a normal size? Can't Cyclops just wear one and not have to do the whole glasses thing at all? This is a fucking dumb plot device.

X-men despise any and all power nullifiers, winder how they feel about Leech
Apocalypse tech but yeah, Rogue should have snatched one or two
I am sure they are fine with leech since he is a muttie but every time a flatscanner uses him they hate him a little more
Yeah I get hating them to be used on slaves or prisoners but literally that's like hating a car because you were born with legs. Like, holy fuck Rogue has a whole episode where she's debating on curing herself permanently or not and that episode comes after the one where they introduce the perfect compromise. It would have been a lot better if they specifically only have a small amount of them and they need to destroy them all so they can't be reverse engineered. Be like "Rogue we know this would completely change your life for the better but it's too dangerous to exist." But they literally just have them on the regular in multiple episodes without explanation. I'm miffed.
Not everyone is into BDSM, OP.
That's the best part of BDSM
I always had this one major problem about mutants most likely to have problem with the physical appearance. if suddenly becoming without power their bodies into normal human being suddenly going to make the physical situation get themselves killed.Realistic look the guy in the image will not having his superpowers more likely to kill him rather than make him normal?
She refuses to use them under normal circumstances because as inconvenient as her powers are, she considers them too important to her identity as a mutant to block out.
While I agree, the ONLY strike against this is if the "Collar Explodes" feature is some how intrinsic to the bloody thing working at all, in which case I could see why Rogue and or Cyke wouldn't want one strapped to their necks.
I can totally buy that the people who made these things intentionally did something like that; both aspects of the collar were essential to it working because they were perfectly willing to blow off all the mutants' heads with a remote control if they got out of line and having the ability to kill them probably is a priority over them not having powers, if barely.
Frankly, I'm surprised they even made the means to unlock/remove the collars.
Status quo, same reason Xavier is in a chair despite having a student that could heal all wounds and Cyclops has mental blocks on his powers despite being intimate with some of the most powerful telepaths in the Marvel verse.
My problem is regarding sorry bastards like this guy whom they call race traitors for even remotely thinking about wanting to be human. Yeah it must be SO fucking hard being you, Xavier, having the ability to read minds like books and editing them however you see fit. You're such an outcast.
Fact is that mutants are fucking assholes, and deserve all the hate they get
>While I agree, the ONLY strike against this is if the "Collar Explodes" feature is some how intrinsic to the bloody thing working at all
There are mutants like Forge whose powers are literally doing any magic bullshit they want with technology, and you have dudes like Beasts who can develop a cure for disease that stump scientists from like a thousand years in the future in the space of a half hour episode, so that's honestly bullshit that the X-Men don't bother to make their own power dampeners that don't involve explosives.
And it's not like they couldn't use them - that time they brought in Sabretooth into the mansion despite Wolverine being like "c'mon guys he's a complete monster" that in the comics I'm pretty sure ended up with Psylocke getting murdered or some shit but in the toon just had Jubilee get terrorized.
Mutant pride trumps all sense of logic and common sense. To depower a mutant for any reason or duration is considered a fate worse than death to them.
Maybe the collars are painful or unpleasant, or have strongly negative side effects if worn for an extended period of time. Not like Genosha was gonna care if some muties got sick or went boom bc of their tech.
Sabretooth is a lolicon tho, just strap some jailbait to him and he will behave.
Well, Beast is a bio chem guy, I thought, not an electronics engineer, and in the show they hadn't met Forge yet.
My point was more I can see why they didn't take a bunch of the Genosha collars home with them since they had lethal attachments, not that the tech should have been salvaged, studied, and tweaked for a more utilitarian version that doesn't come with a goddamn bomb plugged into it.
Even with that in mind, and not getting into whether or not the collars in and of themselves are seen as a humiliation rather than a "peace bonding" show of good faith, if the original ones can be remotely controlled, even without a bomb in the revamped ones, it sure would suck if someone else found out how to hack them and turn a deactivated collar suddenly on while the mutant is flying around or breathing underwater or are in the middle of using their powers to save a bunch of people.
Rogue got one of those in a porn parody and turned into a humongous slut...
That aside what the mutants want changes over time and the politics around that have become too complex for that to work. Mutants won`t settle for suppressing mutations or be accepted as equals anymore. In the current paradigm mutants consider themselves the next step of evolution, a superior species. They no longer seek to live among humans and be accepted but have founded a nation (a sentient island) that accepts only their kind and is free of human rules and regulations. Instead is ruled by a council formed by En Sabah Nur (Apocalypse), Magneto, Xavier and even Nathaniel Essex (Mister Sinister) is on board. From there they all lead different organizations and whatnot. Xavier is the ambassador, Magneto is the commander leading the official military actions, the Hellfire circle manages enterprises, economics both legally and illegally (piracy using the marauders), Logan, X-23, Domino and the rest still constitute the X-force (cover ops) and so on.
At the same time humans keep developing sentinels and resisting what they see as their unavoidable extinction. Suppressing the X-gene is no longer enough, they have to erase it completely in order to stay on top of the food chain and preserve the species. Furthermore it seems that, no matter what, given enough time Nimrod is always created and extinguish all mutants so putting on collars won`t save them anymore.
>After coming to Krakoa Leech is ostracized by the larger mutant community
>Spat on for being friends with outtsiders
>Even Artie won't hang with him anymore
>He's planing to make Genoshia look like a fucking joke
This is like a disabled person refusing any and all aids. Like I know deaf people will refuse things like hearing aids and coacliear implants but c'mon
Why a collar make it a tasteful ring, a choker a pair of glasses anything
See
Actually this makes me wonder: has anyone ever written an X-story set in a future where normal humans stopped trying to kill them, die out or their numbers are dwindling and the entire planet is now mutants and the odd super hero who has powers from a different source?
You're not wrong, but my worry is whether it's a collar or a hat or a ring or a whatever, is that the original collars are remote controlled, and if the X-men can hack the originals to make safe versions it stands to comic book logic that someone else could hack the new ones and cause all kinds of fuck ups even if the new ones no longer explode.
>That time Jubilee tried to start shit because a guy, who also had powers asked them to not use their's inside his house
>That time Kitty shanghied a guy who just blew up a town
user these are the people who mind fucked Reed for making an invention that cloaks xgenes from outside scanners, something Sentinels have
>doesn't that completely invalidate a lot of mutants issues with being harmful freaks?
Oh yes, absolutely. Unfortunately, all the mutants that look like fucking supermodels got together and decided it was better for everybody if the mutants that look like fucking monsters stay that way. You know, for reasons. So no cure for the lizard guy who spews rancid feces from his giant facial warts, sadly.
A lot of futures not dictated by the X side of the house usually has humanity chill the fuck out
Thats true of everything, how many times has Tony, Vision, Ultron and any other tech based character been hacked. Besides it ain't like they have to wear them all the time
she does wear one so she can fuck. It gives her migraines though, no way she would wear one all the time. Besides, there are times she has learned to control her powers.
I suddenly don't feel so bad about the World War Hulk miniseries that was just three issues of the Hulk beating the ever-loving shit out of all muggas.
Unless you're on the X side of things there's no anti-mutant anything going on. The Avengers will be trying to save the entire Earth from Kang and the X-Men will be lamenting that someone cut off Cyclops in traffic and calling it an anti-mugga hate crime.
eh, it could also be that without training their power is more unstable. So if they collar accidentally comes off, they are MORE of a danger to everyone than never wearing it.
it's also got a very political side, explained in Whedon's X-Men run. When you give the government the ability to use something that can be a weapon, it will likely be used as a weapon. Also, that technology can't be controlled and kept in responsible hands.
Just this week it was revealed that police and military equipment used to hack phones is being sold to grade schools so they can crack students phones without any legal authority. Abuse of power always happens.
She couldn't get one fast enough when it meant fucking Gambit.
