fun things and political things don't have to be unrelated, gi joe exists after all

Was GIJoe all that political, or just military porn?

i'd say just the whole idea of the us military being presented as infallible badass heroes is political

Classic Disney and Looney Tunes.

I mean, presented against Cobra, anyone can be infallible and badass.

So then the answer to OP's question is "always" since that's how the military has been portrayed in cartoons since the beginning.

Furthermore, political cartoons were the first cartoons.

politics in cartoons are ok (like animaniacs) as long as it being kept in dose but it gets awful when politics becomes the main reason like Steven Universe.

>Political cartoons were the first cartoons
Well that's just flat out wrong

he has a point, some of the very first were.

Politics aren't the main reason for Steven Universe you just see it that way because the fundamental worldview of the creator is in opposition to yours. It's not really much different from far leftist pacifists feeling offended by GI Joe

Fine, the first comics then if we're going to make a distinction.

Western cartoons today solely exist to just endoctrinate young children. There are no integrity or ambition to them that has anything to do with artistic pursuit or entertainment. If it's any better children today don't watch cartoons they'd rather play fortnite and among us or something. Only insane manchildren and deviants watch and keep up with cartoons being made today.

Politics have nothing to do with why SU went to shit

>Only insane manchildren and deviants watch and keep up with cartoons being made today
why the hell are you here then

>fundamental worldview of the creator is in opposition to yours
I don't give a fuck about Sugar's opinions as long as she directs an enjoyable series which she did not and wasted the entire potential of her show into identity politics. None of the modern cartoonists could distance themselves from their work and can't understand that it's not their personal AO3 fanfiction anymore.

>MUH POLITICS WAAAAAAAAAH
What the fuck do you want out of stories? To just straight up jingle keys in your face? Fucking idiot.

>"Is the franchise about an elite US military squad fighting terrorist political?"
Okay, so you're actually retarded. Got it.

Shit gem

I'm actually watching season 1, and there's not a lot, if any, of blatant identity politics from what I see.
Although, I didn't finish the season yet.
It does has some problems though.. but I don't see politics as one of them for now.

>posting the worst gem
opinon discarded.

Op already took care of that

>but I don't see politics as one of them for now.
Shit hits the fan after S3.

Lapis is best gem because she makes my pee pee hard

Rebecca confirmed that the diamonds accepting "pink diamond" as "steven" in the climax of the story was meant to be a trans acceptance metaphor

I thought it was a literal who storyboard artists that "confirmed" it via Twitter

Lapis was shit but at least she has a shitty personality. Garnet is just a soulless stock character whose only reason of existence is to promote Sugar's political agenda.

Lapis is worst gem because all her fans are mentally challenged cumbrains

She makes me cum and that makes me happy so she can't be that bad

>t. who fantasises fucking a green midget

No she confirmed it in an official book that she wrote as a retelling of Change Your Mind and dedicated the last page to trannies

Lots of people did enjoy it so it was obviously enjoyable and you obviously do care about her perspective since it stopped you from enjoying it.

To answer what I guess your question is though, I think that the noticeable trend in cartoons to be more "inclusive" even of weird fringe sexuality is an effect of the last gasp of "television stations" like cartoon network struggling to maintain their existence in the traditional form, one where they can't know nearly as precisely what the interests of its viewers are like streaming can but still being in possession of larger production facilities where they can produce high quality content.

It will normalize soon and you'll have content made just for people like you. It already exists, you're just still too blinded by the "big" cartoons but it won't be long before quality is comparable everywhere.

The moment their popularity rises

I think the show made it abundantly clear that Pink did not "transition into" Steven. Yes, the diamonds wanted to believe that and were ready to accept it but it wasn't what happened.

>Garnet is just a soulless stock character whose only reason of existence is to promote Sugar's political agenda.
Ruby and Sapphire weren't the reason people liked Garnet in S1

>Lots of people did enjoy it so it was obviously enjoyable and you obviously do care about her perspective since it stopped you from enjoying it.
If they're so enjoying it then why does everyone keep complaining about?

Yeah well sugar herself thinks otherwise

>wasted the entire potential of her show into identity politics
Season 3 and 4 were wasted but not for the identity politics, it lacked a sense of danger, it was most them doing shit and then the shit goes shitter

This says it's "dedicated", not that's a metaphor.
Steven accepting is Pink Side can be seen as simply acceptiong who you're without others telling you otherwise, but that's a moral for everyone and so trans included.

Season 5 was worse than seasons 3 and 4 combined, that was the point where the basic character writing and conflict resolutions became even shittier than the pacing

It is a metaphor clearly primarily intended for trans people if she is directly dedicating the message to them

That is just your limited perception from within your echo chamber.

I don't know if I'm willing to take your word for that and even if she does, the actual cartoon explicitly says that it is not the case.

Literally two posts above yours

>what is a dedication

The "Steven is trans" metaphor is literally retarded and you don't need to be transphobic to hold that opinion. The show explicitly tells the audience in the SAME fucking episode that Steven ISN'T Pink Diamond. Either he was Pink Diamond or he isn't Pink Diamond, you can't having fucking both Sugar.

what the fuck are you on about schizo

>what is turning a blind eye to Rebecca's obsession with sex and gender
Need i remind you of shep
She is openly a tranny shill why are you afraid to admit it
