Saying the old animaniacs was always political for having 4 or 5 political jokes, is like saying futurama has always been an educational show because it has math humor every now and then...

I don't even like Animaniacs and I remember that Bill Clinton was portrayed as a bumbling, incompetent, pussy-whipped creep. I'm pretty sure they also shat on Al Gore a few times.

Exactly, they never really criticized him in a political level, they just made fun of him being stupid, and the only time I can think of al gore is putting him as eeore, saying gore is boring is not exactly political satire.

Even the producers of the show believed the show was political from some out of context scenes on tweeter. And now we have the reboot that puts Hillary Clinton as a feminist icon...

I think the new show is about as polictical as the old one. But their takes were never good. It's all just consense humor. I also think the jokes don't age well because nobdy cares in a few years.

>And now we have the reboot that puts Hillary Clinton as a feminist icon...

No? They make fun of her losing in the very first episode.

>4 or 5

What did they do that makes you so mad? The Trump cyclops? He brags about things that are obviously untrue, and it was a good imitation instead of another variation on Stephen Colbert's.

>4 or 5

They don’t exactly make fun of her, they say she was the right path that never was, and literally put her breaking the glass ceiling.
If anything is more of a “how could we let this happen”

OIC, you wanted AOC.

The trump cyclop was funny, is just the show in general being so cynical about their political takes, and about being a reboot. Made even worst when you know how they treated the original creator, Warner bros believed it’s own lies about the show being good because of Spielberg’s money.

They might put her as a Latina goddess or something in a segment on season 2 so nothing to worry, we’ll have the whole squad.

The old Animaniacs made fun of everyone. Rush Limbaugh to Al Gore to the Clintons

Nu Animaniacs just makes fun of conservatives.

The new show already feels dated, they make a joke about been written in 2018 and you can tell it was.

I don’t know if the same amount, I don’t remember anything similar to an entire episode about gun control or women’s/cartoon’s rights to vote.

The show pretty much feels like it developed like Lisa simpson.

Dot feels a lot like Lisa Simpson desu

>conservatives

You mean Trumpkins.

Media no longer goes after Democrats because the industry is in bed with them (tech too).
If it makes you feel any better, the GOP is in the pocket of big agro and oil.

People like to use this joke to justify the political humor in the show, but it inadvertently comes off like Wakko is agreeing with the republican party.
>he's the middle child, he would be the conservative one just to mess with his liberal siblings.

The glass ceiling joke features multiple female celebrities wearing rocket boots hammering chips out of a ceiling that is already broken wide open. They have no obstruction to reaching the skies but choose to hammer at an already broken ceiling and celebrate that they're "putting cracks in it".

I think this joke is rather a comment on cringey political statements.

Wasn't "America has lost its way" somebody's slogan in the 1980s/1990s?

The jokes in the original Animaniacs always felt they were born out of a desire to rebel and punch up at the powerful, rather than to lecture. So it's more along the lines of "look at these self-important people, they're just idiots too and we're going to fuck with them." I'm sure most of the crew lean in one political direction. Tom Ruegger himself is a highly political person, but that didn't come across too strongly in the show.
The desire to lecture rather than diminish is why a lot of humor nowadays lacks the brevity of wit. They're talking at you, they're talking down to you. That grates no matter the politics.

Isn't a slogan like that always in use? Even Maga means the same: Old Days = good, Today = bad.

But these don't control and shaoe culture and the way that people think

Did the U.N. ever work?

Exactly once, with the DDT ban

Nu-Animaniacs did make fun of liberals like Seth Meyers (I'm not even sure why they went with Meyers specifically) though it seemed like it was more a streak of "We're punching up at liberals who like the status quo and don't want to do anything to change it".

I'm not too sure. Usually people who gas up Hillary Clinton tend to also disagree with AOC's politics, considering that Hillary is a centrist/borderline center-right (think 80s Republicans) while AOC is on the left/center-left.

None of that is going to matter a whole lot when the biosphere collapses.

it's a misconception to think that nu-maniacs only made fun of conservatives. a few of their liberal themed jokes have some back handed comments on it.

It's episodes like the Bun episode and making fun of Chris Tucker does it make it's self more obviously liberal sided. I really don't have a problem with their political takes, I just wish they were funnier.

>never once made fun of Tucker's blank stare into the camera... could've made a whole episode about how he lost his brain and riff off of that.

I was surprised how biting it went. I do find it funny that tourists were angry that the replacement executive for Plotz was a colored woman name Nora Rita but the the minute they introduced her being a send up of #GirlBoss culture of a "Strong woman who kicked the ladder away so no one else could reach my position". That's a hell of a way to start swinging upwards.
