yesterday was the 50th anniversary of this special
1970-2020

Mickey Rooney was the best choice for Santa in the Rankin-Bass Universe.
Why hasn't this had a remake? This and Frosty are the only Rankin Bass stories I genuinely liked. A CG version would look so much better and the original was only 48 minutes long. Granted, there's no replacing Mickey Rooney.
Their last great Christmas special IMO my opinion.
The Year Without a Santa Claus is okay.
What about the Life and Adventures of Santa Claus in '85?
I never cared for most of their '70s and '80s output.
It lost a lot of the charm and had a sort of grim vibe.
I tried watching some of the later Rudolph specials and just couldn't get into them.
>That fucking out of nowhere war between fairytale creatures
That shit was wild as a kid.
So I'm clearly overthinking this, but ignoring the silly anachronistic toys for a moment, what era was this supposed to be set in?
>Why hasn't this had a remake?
Because the original is perfection.
Always liked it more than the second one
True, the second one had the brothers, but not much else, just a mishmash of events really
This one feels more compelling and structured
I've always assumed the 1800s, since that's when the "modern" Santa that we know originates from.
Burgermeister Meisterburger did not a thing wrong. Those kids had it coming.
I know that the Dutch have Sinterklaas, but did any of the proper Krauts historically have a similar figure?
>inb4 le krampus
Pretty soon this will be too problematic to air.
Dumb zoomer.
Give it time, faggot.
NOT ME
>vgh dae (((they))) call it le "xmas" now???
Germans in the 15th Century had Odin (the Norse mythology one) delivering gifts
They call it Xe/Xir-mas now, boomer.
HONK! HONK!
except being a child eater fucked him over
You're both unfunny faggots and should kill yourselves.
Because we don't need a remake.

Top Tier Rankin Bass special
Near-perfect special. Aged like fine wine, and it's entertaining for both adults and kids unlike new shitty Christmas specials.
>This and Frosty are the only Rankin Bass stories I genuinely liked
So you didn't like Rudolph and Year Without Santa?
I like how they went out of their way to explain every aspect of Santa Claus "lore" and made it work.
