Why was Hong Kong handed over to the PRC in the first place?
The PRC and the UK signed no agreement, the government the UK signed the agreement with no longer existed, so surely it should have remained British.
Why was Hong Kong handed over to the PRC in the first place?
because they were prepared to take it by force and we were so declined we could not resist it
You guys think I could've gotten a white British bf if we were still a British colony?
Every time I see this scrawny necklet manlets face I have an overwhelming urge to punch my screen
who knows, I guess you can leave HK to go to the UK I guess?
USA wouldn't have supported Britain?
No.
who
Is it really worth starting a massive global war over a tiny piece of land thousands of miles away? The options were war, get humiliated by failing to resist a military annexation or going through with the diplomatic charade.
lmao
Because UK retain most of their benefit from colonial days plus can mess Chinese politics from inside.
You can get it now, white men are all cucks.
You and I both know that the British treated Chinese ethnicity people as second class citizens in Hong Kong.
When they gave control to China they didn't even bother offering HK people British passports that allowed them to live and work in the UK.
Why the fuck are chinks so soulless
The lease that UK signed was not over HK, but over an extension of land in mainland China.
They gave up because they were too afraid to fight for it (in the late '90s UK army was already a joke).
A decade early, UK already had been challenged by fucking Argentina that almost defeat them with pre WWII stuff.
>almost defeat them with pre WWII stuff.
Don't know what are you talking about. Argentina airforce was pretty decent.
>buy Israeli airplanes
>israel refuses to send instructors to train more pilots
>untrained pilots get skull fucked.
>untrained pilots get skull fucked
They sank many ships and damaged many more, you don't know what you are talking about.
Only a few pilots where well trained. The rest just lost planes.
IIRC they had (back then) state of the art French Exocet missiles that could easily sink any British warship. That's far from pre-WWII stuff
Yeah, overall their army was significantly less advanced than what the British had but they were far above WWII levels.
Yeah, it worked well against that destroyer, but what happen to them when France give the codes to disable the Exocet missiles? They became useless.
wasn't that because Thatcher threatened to nuke Argentina?
80s UK would have mopped up Chyna
80s Chyna got humiliated by Vietnam, whose main army wasn't even stateside but rather in Laos
>Why was Hong Kong handed over to the PRC in the first place?
Because you Anglo savages robbed Hong Kong from China in the first place you fucking illiterate asshole. Put your stinky hands off Hong Kong and China. Asia belongs to Asians.
Because despite all their bluster the Tory's are fannies.
Remember when revolutionary leaders looked like this
Deng-sama..y-y-you're too strong..I KNEEL!
The New Territories were only ever leased for 99 years. The UK had to give them back.
Kowloon and Hong Kong Island could not exist without the New Territories and so it made sense hand them over at the same time.
UK would’ve won in a straight fight but China their people wouldn’t support a prolonged war over it. China doesn’t need to care about that and could support the war as long as they want
Shitty all around.
This what a real revolutionary looks like
China basically threatened to invade because they will always protect and defend their Han brothers from the evil west even if that means killing them and destroying their homes. UK decided to avoid this disaster and the cost to them.
Europe is an asian penninsula
They should have performed a mass immigration and then detinated nuclear bombs on it, returning Hong Kong to its natural state as a lifeless rock.
>Thatcher threatened to nuke Argentina
I don't remember that happening, the expedition was almost canceled so many times, the logistics was ridiculous.
A nuclear attack would turn the entire region against them, they never even dare to bomb the mainland.
Argentina had an alieance with the US, in theory the shoud have remained neutral and attack on mainland whoud make the US position more difficult.
