Paradigm shift

SOUL

Why did you sold Nokia to Americans?

We only sold the shit part (phones) to Microsoft. We even kept the patents and name rights. We totally scammed those dumb yanks lol.

They found themselves comfy on the position of the global best sellers and become lazy. Then Apple released the iPhone and the Android smartphones revolution started, Nokia just calmly waited for it to flop.
When Nokia reacted, it was too late, the OHA had already won. Also the Microsoft deal was a complete disaster.

Sold out to Microsoft, then Microsoft cucked out and dropped windows phone at the first sign of trouble.

Actually really sad desu, Lumia phones were something else.

>nokia had a concept for a modern smartphone in fucking 1996 and never followed through
ugh... what could have been...

because they dismissed the idea to put touch screens on their phones as stupid, so Apple got to it first and became dominant

i still use a nokia phone, nokia 9 to be precise. its good.

Is there any phone producer that used to be relevant in the 2000s and still is? Nokia, Ericsson, Blackberry, Motorola...
People do not realise how slow big corporations are, it would have been hard to survive the smartphone revolution without being one of the pioneers.

I loved my n95 so much, it was slow but it had everything. The only thing I hated of it, was the red led when recording. I could see shit when doing a video in dark places

Ericsson is dead, Nokia and Motorola are trying but it's hard to compete with all of those chinese and korean companies, as for Blackberry they're doing something else now

Victor Papanek described this concept in his book "design for the real world" that come out in 1971

>W-what went wrong?
Microsoft fucking everything, as always.

Shitty internal politics. They brought it upon themselves

My Nokia 8110 4G arrives tomorrow. I'm doing my part.

Well, Nokia and Ericsson are also doing something else, their core business is in mobile infrastructure and they're world-leading on that front.

Nokia would still be a major global consumer brand if they just made Android phones

I've got one of them new nokia smartphones

Pretty good, only cost £100 to buy outright

Nokia produced phones with multimedia functions.
Apple produced multimedia computer with the phone function.
Who need a phone for 500$ when it's price of a computer?

Cool. Just a quick google search about Ericsson and I just find out that they're the main competitor of Huawei in the European 5G business.

It's not so easy. Chinese and Korean companies are making huge developments and innovations every year, that cost losts of money which they already have. And the cost of production is already pretty small for said companies (lobbyism in case of Koreans and economic aid from the Chinese goverment on the Chinese part), which is difficult for another company to compete with those.
Even if Nokia started to make android phones made in China to make them popular they need to have pretty cool innovations every year with lower prices, in case of not archieveing that it would be a loss so it might be really risky for them to try on a big scale.

N900 is where Nokia peaked, it's all been downhill from there.

N95, still have it, using it as a spare/emergency phone. 8gb storage, which was insane when it came out (2007 I think). Symbian S60 3rd gen was a comfy phone OS. So many Java games. Decent cam (5mp) for the time. Nokia had cool phones.

Nokia had the coolest fucking designs. I don't know how much acid those guys were doing, at their peak I felt like they churned out a new phone every week

Finnish boys don't want to make phones anymore, all they want now is gaysex, anime and cocks.

I blame estonian construction workers

kek one of my classmates had that n-gage and we all gathered around him and watched him playing it

>W-what went wrong?

American tech media were paid to destroy Nokia. They had to destroy it because the operating system wasn't owned by America. It's all about Nationalism and Finns were too naive to play the hardball game against their own board at Nokia which had been infiltrated by activist investors who were paid to steer it in the wrong direction.

Those are the most reliable workers in all of Finland desu

Vgh....
They took this from vs...

really? undercutting normal finnish workers, being drunk/high on the job and stealing all the copper

Are estonians the white negroes of Finland?

Nah, Finns just like bitching.

Then he is lying?

Details???

We'd be screwed without cheap Estonian labor. Finns are lazy and entitled.
