do your farts smell good

Never really noticed I eat a lot of stinky cheese

Do you like where you live compared to where you traveled?

I don’t live in the maritimes presently but it is a sorta crappy but beautiful place. It’s very insular. Nobody really cares about what happens outside of their communities. It has some nice aspects but people are very ‘’commère’’ over there which I hate.

Fais un vocaroo s'il vous plait.

Teach me some Acadian expressions that aren't used by the Quebecois or other French Canadians.

We have many strange ones that I have no idea where they even come from. For example the word ‘’mosquito’’ in French is ‘’moustique’’ but in the maritimes people will say ‘’maringouin’’ which I think cajuns say too? Also moths in French is ‘’papillon de nuit’’ but really old people will say ‘’babbesh.’’ Also an old women (picture a witch or something) is sometimes called a ‘’saguine’’ there’s many really strange ones but I’d have to think more about it

I misspelled it. I forgot what it was called but it’s actually ‘’sagouine’’ imagine like a story teller grandmother type figure or sometimes something like a witch

How much of a problem are these things?

Pretty bad there’s actually a fuckton of insects and a lot of pretty cool looking ones. I remember these very fast types of bugs similar to this that ran super fast. I remember thinking they were very pretty. Maybe not same species but imagine a similar looking creature.

what did you get for xmas last year?

>where is acadia?
The Canadian maritimes provinces, most of the east coast
>what are your 3 fave acadian dishes?
Coquille Saint-Jacque (pretty gud raw) Tourtière (imagine a meat pie type thing) and Coques Frites (it’s like fried clams, you eat them like fries)
>what did you get for xmas last year?
I think I got a bunch of books, L'Odyssée by Homère, some philosophy stuff and I got a wind surf board which is pretty fun

>maritimes
have you been to green gables?
>it’s like fried clams
sounds appetizing, would you say acadian cuisine is big on seafood?

Est-ce que tu speak comme that?

>have you been to green gables?
No unfortunately not. Not sure why, Prince Edward Island was very close to where I’m from. I’m not in the maritimes right now but I’d really like to go explore all over there sometime soon and see all the Maritime provinces. It’s a beautiful place to visit.
>sounds appetizing, would you say acadian cuisine is big on seafood?
Hugely based on seafood. I would post pics but I don’t have them on me but we used to go out in the beaches and catch hundreds of clams and eat them for dinner. Coque Frites are like this but imagine more homemade version.

Lmao, gouine is slang for lesbian in French

They really do, Quebecers do that code-switching shit too but not as much as Acadiens do, which makes sense since they live in a majority Anglo province.

are you the one that posts his genealogy tree from time to time?

how does it feel knowing MIRAMICHI is the BEST town in northern NB?

how many generations ago did your ancestors settle Canada?

Moi aussi, Î-P-É

Not him, but 100% of Acadians come from two immigration waves, one in the late 1600s and the other in the early 1700s.

What about Shédiac or Bouctouche?

do you know what region of France they came from?

Cute, I’m really surprised you guys know about this video. Actually this joke is more with people in the southern part who speak ‘’franglais’’ or ‘’chiac’’ as some people call it. I’m from the NVRTH where nobody speaks like this at all. People consider chiac to be ugly in the North which I think so too. I’ll read a poem for you. I have a bit of an accent but hopefully you will like it. I write some ideas I have sometimes no bully svp voca.ro/6Gh8yCwibGV

what are the accents in French Canada?

André Rapin is my ancestor, he moved to Nouvelle-France and got a 2nd wife her, so every Canadian with him in their family tree are my cousins.

shediac isn't north, it's really just a suburb of moncton
the billionaire anglo family that owns the province is from bouctouche, they set up this park for the public

I knew this. I’m not sure if it’s a native word or something. I think all blood sucking mosquitoes are female maybe it is a play on words ?
Yes sometimes we do code switch. If I am with a friend or my sister we will speak French so nobody bothers us but this is what I do in an English province
Yes that’s me :)
Mine are from 1700. They are from a very irrelevant village in in Normandie of like 2000 people and the others are either Basque or Poitou. I do have a native great grandmother but as far as I know everyone else in my familly is French. Shadiac sucks it’s all where the franglais people hang

All from the western coast of France from Normandy to Aquitaine. I was wrong, one wave of immigration was in the early-mid 1600s and the other was in the late 1600s.

It’s actually extremely varied depending on the village or region. We obviously have our stereotypes but not everyone sounds had nasally as some regions in Québec which I think sound a bit annoying or super twangy like some Acadians. I’ll try to find some examples and post.

The guard still broke.

That’s really cool I studied in France for a few months when I was in high school as a transfer thing. I wish I stayed longer I really enjoyed it.
