I'm an American who had a police officer in my high school every day. I'm wondering if any other countries are like this. I'll be answering questions too if you guys want.
I'm an American who had a police officer in my high school every day...
did you have those metal detectors too? and the uniform policy and the backpack checking
no. sounds dystopic my amerifriend.
The only time we had a police officer come to our high school was when they were offering some kind of career guidance for students who might be interested in that career path, together with a bunch of other professions and careers.
Was the police ever actually needed at your school?
No we had some cops designated to our school, but they were never inside the building and only rolled like once a month to "check" on things.
Cops only ever escalate things having them around teens sounds like bad idea user
Would never happen here
There was a cop in my school too. mainly was there to break up fights and the such which were pretty rare but happened maybe 4 or 5 times a year. He also served as the guy to direct visitors. He was black so he was immune to anti cop sentiment and he helped coach baseball after school. He was pretty based
>I'll be answering questions too if you guys want.
>Answers no questions
Do Americans really
We didn't have police although they usually came once a month to arrest someone. Instead we had unarmed security guards. Funniest shit ever was when they tacked a rabid nigger right in front of me who was running around the whole school trying to get away after he got caught smoking weed.
then again it wouldn't hurt if police could go full guardia civil in areas where there's lots of 'street hyenas' and other sub50 IQ 'gangsters'
>I'll be answering questions too if you guys want.
How many mcmeals did you have today
You can literally walk into any school or university here.
not him but no, my school had drug dog searches several times
no, but my school was in the ghetto and once or twice a year we had a nigger walking around brandishing a handgun so we went into lockdown
for breakfast i had waffles and sausages
for lunch i had spaghetti a la carbonara
for dinner i had burgers and a salad
last time i ate mcdonald was 1 month ago
Are you sure it was a real police officer and not just some security guard?
Our schools are 100% open. Anyone can wander in and out at anytime. From 1st grade to the final year in uni.
yes, a few actually
yes, they part their cruiser right at the entrance
pedo paradise
Sometimes there are police officers outside middle and highschools when students are leaving, but they are just uh, there.
>The only time we had a police officer come to our high school was when they were offering some kind of career guidance for students who might be interested in that career path, together with a bunch of other professions and careers.
This. Very rarely a schoolyard fight would get out of control and the law would be called in. Maybe twice? I don't know, it wasn't common at all.
OP here. Sorry for the wait.
Never had a metal detector. I've only heard of metal detectors being used shortly after a school shooting, though I don't know if there are schools that use them all the time. Uniforms are more of a private school thing; never seen a public school (which I went to) use uniforms. The police officer and relevant staff would sometimes check students' backpacks and lockers if they thought they had drugs, weapons, etc.
I guess, yeah. Why do you guys think this is only an American issue?
A couple times the police officer there would break up fights and deal with the bad kids. My school was next to an area where pretty much all the adults made crack, so a large number of the students at my school (not including me) were bad kids both because of the bad influence and I hypothesize a sort of fetal alcohol syndrome kind of thing but with crack.
In my schools (both middle and high school) there was a single cop who was there every day in the building. It must have been his full-time job or something.
The cop usually settled things down, since the kids knew they could never take him on since he was way stronger than them, more trained, and armed.
Same kind of thing here, minus the being black, greeting visitors, and coaching basketball part.
Sorry for the wait user. I had to do some stuff. I really like your Apu picture (and this guy's too )
We had a lot of minor drug issues in my school, too. Probably because of the kind of place the school was near that brought in those kinds of kids.
Based.
Zero.
That's interesting. Do they just let you walk around, or can you actually just become a student there or sit in a lecture and learn?
This isn't me btw
For sure. I remember he had a police car (illegal to make your car look like a police car here) and took normal police calls too sometimes.
I hate state police in my school and we were much better off for it
I used to wander into my school (1-9th grade) and eat in the lunch hall long after I finished 9th grade kek.
Free food, yes please.
OP here again.
That's interesting. There's no way that would fly here. Too dangerous.
Was your school in a bad area?
That also isn't me
That's what I was thinking
Have they ever done anything, like break up fights or deal with drugs or anything?
It would happen sometimes at my high school. Granted, there were some shit kids in my school.
there was police presence, but it was like one black dude and I think he mainly showed up to hang out with the security guards. The security guards only broke up fights that happened maybe once or twice year. By the time I graduated those things never happened.
What happened? Why do you think that?
Nice one, lol. Didn't know they would do that. In my school each student had an ID associated with an account that they could deposit money into. If you weren't poor enough to get free/cheaper lunch, if you didn't have enough money in your account you were fucked.
OP
Yeah, it does seem interesting that there were both security guards and law enforcement
This is me btw; sorry for not stating it in the reply
>if you didn't have enough money in your account you were fucked
That sucks. School lunch is free for everyone here, it's one of the basic rights for all students.
>What happened? Why do you think that?
We had a ton of drugs and gang violence. They did a lot to stop it and made it so that normal kids could worry about going to school and lot getting caught up in the shit.
>Have they ever done anything, like break up fights or deal with drugs or anything?
I suppose the reason they are there it's to not let drugs get near schools but even thought I've seen a lot of fights, I've never saw the police stopping one. Hell, I remember they were watching as well. Thought, we were just kids, so I'm guessing they were there in case things went out of control.
OP
Damn, that sounds nice. They did give free lunches to kids who they knew were too poor to afford it though, so the cost thingly mainly just served to prevent normal kids from screwing them over and getting free shit. My school district (it's like a governing body of a collection of schools in a region) still gave out free food to poor kids during this whole virus thing.
How does that make kids worry more?
So you think they would have stepped in if the fight got really out of control?
>That's interesting. Do they just let you walk around, or can you actually just become a student there or sit in a lecture and learn?
If it's a big lecture hall no one will bat an idea if you sit down.
bat an eye*
I wish there was a policeman for every school here. But they are either being criminals themselves or getting killed for not being criminals.
