It's a fairly common pizza topping offered in family restaurants. It's usually called "American pizza" and ordered mostly by kids or starving students.
Actually when I used to have lunch in my college's canteen I'd take the plain pizza, the fried potatoes and then combine the two once at the table.
If there also was breaded cutlet that day, I'd also add that one on top and eat it like a sandwhich
