Why are German colonies not any more similar to Germany than other African countries? Don't they have any traces of German influence in the political, economic or legal system or simply ethnic Germans living there?

I literally don´t know anything about our former colonies, just like 99.99% of germans. The only thing that some people know is that we comitted a genocide against some africans after they attacked german settlers. But we didn´t rule them for long, so who knows how much we influenced them.

Because we owned colonies for like 20 years and they didn't care about making these places like Germany. German colonists lived seperated from everyone else on farms and unlike the French or English for example they never taught local people the language but instead taught Swahili or other common African languages.

Actually quite sad, would be nice if there was a German-speaking country in Africa looking like a tropical version of Germany.

Btw, I heard that there were African soldiers fighting for Germany in WW1 and they were surprisingly one of the most loyal and patriotic soldiers in the German army.

it is right there under culture but the overall index is probably skewed because of politics as switzerland is an actual democracy

I'm pretty sure knowing German is a valuable skill in the US or Brazil.
